Bought that 8GB kit, chucked it in, and works perfectly first go!

Not sure if I'm going to be so lucky when I put the second kit in there... It's on order now.

Are you still at default BIOS settings, or had you tweaked something beforehand?
What are the actually used settings anyway?
Did you do any stability testing?

You are now our scout into the new frontier, keep us posted.

@srode1: Not really go up, but not going any more down (when the next generation does) feels effectively the same. :(

Didn't make any BIOS changes at all, it just worked!

I haven't done any stability testing as such, but I have loaded it up with a bunch of virtual machines now and they are consuming around 5GB now comfortably.

This machine is going to be running 24/7 and so far appears perfectly stable.

It's going to be another 2 - 4 weeks before the second kit comes in... Apparently they only got one in to see if anyone would buy it, but no one had so I got their one and only.

I have a feeling I'll be asking for help on getting them all running together... :)

Yep, 2 x 4GB and cost $330 AUD... I'm guessing (and can't be bothered checking) that's around the $200 USD mark, considering our dollar value at the moment (was nearly par about 3 months ago!)

So two sets of OCZ 5-4-4-18 2x4GB PC2-6400 "P45 Special"? And on the other forum you wrote that CPUZ said 5-5-5-18 for the first set?

It is always a wonder, when something works as intended. Don't know why. ;)

    At edge of nowhere, now:
    Local store has Mushkin 996655 (2x4GB, EM2-6400, 5-5-5-18) in stock 174 €.
    Local store has Mushkin 996654 (2x4GB, HP2-6400, 5-4-4-18) in stock 219 €.
    Nonlocal store lists OCZ (2x4GB, PC2-6400, 5-4-4-18) only by order 210 €.
    Nonlocal store lists OCZ (4x4GB, PC2-6400, 5-5-5-18) only by order 402 €.
