Default EP45-UD3R Memory 2nd Bank or Dual Channel Issues

    Hello,

I have a GA-EP45-UD3R using 4 GB of Kingston KVR800D2K2 DDR2 800 memory. There are 4 slots for memory in this motherboard. I have tested this each memory stick in slot 1 of this system and each memory stick worked fine. I can use slots 1 & 2 but when I add sticks to 3 or 4 or both the machine won't POST and gives the power error POST beep code. Is this a Dual Channel problem with the motherboard? Is there some setting in the BIOS that I don't know about? This memory is on the Gigabyte supported memory list.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Ya, just settings you are not setting. Auto is for 2x1 just so that most anything will get you into the BIOS.

For 2x2 or 4x1GB you need to set trfc to 62-62, MCH Voltage to 1.2-1.3 and be sure static Tread is not set to low (9-12 for now would be best). Also set your ram voltage to the spec on your ram sticker 1.8V or set 1.9V to be on the safe side

If you still have issues please post your full specs, and the settings you are trying and I will advise back >>>

i had the same problem .... just under rate your ram .. latch 333 .. 2.4 ... run little slower .. get your system boot up first ... then slowly tweak it ... this was how i get around the same problem

I can use slots 1 & 2 but when I add sticks to 3 or 4 or both the machine won't POST....
Maybe I misunderstood his question, but shouldn't he be adding sticks to slots 1+3 then 2+4 or vice versa, but not 1+2 or 3+4 ?
