Therefore a faster boot times to POST would be be a desirable feature to have. However what I think is most annoying about it is that everybody see this option. If Gigabyte know the feature really doesn't work properly, the option should be grey out or disable. Or a warning text written in the help item description next door. Al least for now, until it eventually get fixed. Then that would save hundreds of people trying to switch it on and it screwing up, loosing their BIOS setting for no good reason. Because it is being presented like this feature aught to work (when actually it doesn't).
Strange, I just only have a Z97 SOC, but I must activate Fast boot and activate the suboption USB partial initialization or deactivate USB initialization completely. Otherwise it won't boot, loops and after a shutdown and waiting a few minutes before power on again it recovers with a boot failure.
I had this bug with previous biosses and it dissappeared only with newest one but came back as I connected a external harddrive to the internal USB 3.0 header. Bios botch by Gigabyte.

Interesting. That is news to me. I have a long time given up trying to use the fast boot option. Until I read something specific in Gigabyte's BIOS notes that they actually have improved and made fixes upon it. But next time if I try again then will remember to also fiddle around with those other connected USB option too.

The most significant problem (as I have said here previously) was that my system would freeze about 1x per day. With the Z170x Gaming 3. And a few other people talked about similar experiences here too. I need to report back now some recent good news, and say it's entirely stopped happening now. This was on windows 10. Want BIOS f3-f4-f5 kept happening on my Z170 Gaming 3. Now it never freezes anymore. The last time must have been 1-2 week. So I'm in the clear. But it would in retrospect be nice to hear from others if that is also solved for them too with similar boards (Z170). Since I never had the opportunity myself to narrow down the reason / source of the problem. It might have been an OS or a BIOS firmware issues. Or a personal hardware issue. Too late for me to do any more investigating as is fine now. :)

Hello guys, I own a Z77X-UD5H for 3 years now without major problems. Last year and a half or so , I flashed bios with the latest one (F16g). I have noticed, when the temperature is low, when I start the pc next day from cold, it hungs in a loop which ends in the 96 debug code. It never happened during summertime. The loop doesnt stop even with the restart button. I have to press power off for 4 secs and then when I power it back on again it always posts nice and clean. Any ideas?

Yup, the first releases had no problems with fan control, but if i am not mistaken, since F9 and upwards, fan control is non existent

You can't also get into bios if there is anything plugged into SATA 2-5
