Microcode cann't be changed by flashing BIOS....only can be modded before flashing.
Alas it does seem the fix Intel made also kills BCLK overclocking for non K Skylake. There have been reports of this happening with other motherboards that have released the fix as well. I found out I already had software that could tell what microcode version I'm on and I get MU065E0339 from SiSoft and Revision 39 from HWiNFO. Not sure how to read this and if it's the 3A you're referencing or the 6A. Can you tell me if this is the updated microcode for the Skylake bug?

Microcode is same.....6A (before has been 3A).
Microcode 39 didn't exist for Skylake.

    Edit:
As you quoted my post......You can check with UBU 1.45.8...(Microcode in BIOS file, not in Windows):
UEFI BIOS Updater ? RGhost ? file sharing

There was a bug at SKL until ucode 6A which caused the ucode to be reported as -1h when checked with the various utilities. So 39 was basically 3A. Shouldn't be a thing anymore though.

Stasio mate, i am seriously having issues with F9a on my Gigabyte z97 board, i think the overclocking issues are caused by the CPU haswell microcode

overclocking for me was far better on F7d + seems there are a bunch of other issues with F9a that i cant pinpoint being sometimes when the board powers up or reboots and i go into the bios some times it wont detect my memory and shows 0 memory installed lol

othertimes i cant boot my pc, its like the led on the board keeps cycling over and over and over and the only way to get it back into the bios is to remove one of my memory sticks and boot up then power off then install 2nd stick and it boots up fine again ......

    ------------------------

just for a test if you get the time can you do me a few versions

1: with F7d modded with the latest modules apart from the cpu code
1: F9a modded with latest modules + F7d`s microcode patched into it

both with latest me firmware and custom logo blue gigabyte electric one :D

if its to much to ask, i could do it myself but i dont want to mess anything up and you seem like you know what your doing haha :D

    cheers man

BIOS F5j seems to have finally eliminated a problem I have had with POST randomly failing when the XMP profile was enabled for RAM (G.Skill DDR4 2400 on Gigabyte's approved list). Once past POST everything was perfectly stable, but it was random and extremely annoying. The problem still existed as of BIOS F5f. I skipped F5g so I don't know if it was resolved there.

Power transitions have also not been completely stable but this may be teething issues with Win10. I haven't had time to do much sleep/wake testing on F5j yet.
After another week on F5j (GA-Z170-UD5):

RAM issues seem to be resolved with F5j. I have not had a single RAM-related POST issue. This was my biggest complaint with the board simply because of the randomness. However there do appear to be two regressions.

The system will randomly fail to boot properly when my SATA BD-ROM drive (on Intel controller) in enabled. The HDD activity light will come on solid for 10-15 seconds, POST will complete, however Windows may fail to boot and launch System Recovery or go into Safe Mode. If I disable the port the BD-ROM is connected to, the problem does not appear. The controller is in AHCI mode. This will not happen every boot, I have not been able to determine if there's a particular set of circumstances (warm reboot vs. cold restart, etc.) where it always occurs.

The system also fails to resume from sleep under all versions of F5, where it worked properly on F4 and older. The system will initially appear to wake immediately when a key is pressed, however there will be no HDD activity and the system will appear hung for 30-60 seconds, after which it will reset itself and Windows will boot normally. I still need to test with my UPS removed from the system.

Check memory compatibility table on motherboard web and buy one compatible ram. Is best way to be sure.

    Hi statio,
    have z170 gaming 7 and a 6600k with SGX support i.e. s stepping sr2l4
was wanting to check using HWinfo if BIOS supports three main additions in Skylake i.e. MPX,SGX and Speed Shift..

using F6 stable bios could see MPX only so I updated today to F7K and seeing SGX new support which is nice..
anyway seems not all are good news as this new BIOS have removed MPX support which was present if I remember correctly..
Also seems Speed Shift (SST in red in HWINFO) is missing from this BIOS..
seems from (Intel Speed Shift Technology... MIA? - AnandTech Forums) users with MSI motherboards(Z170I Gaming Pro AC) and Intel NUC have all three settings avaiable..
so question is if we can expect for F7 final BIOS or in upcoming F8 beta bios for Z170 gaming7 boards support for Intel Speed shift and also readding MPX support and keeping existing SGX support..

    thanks..

I beleive is part of Intel Microcode.
Previous BIOS F6 has 3A Microcode and latest Beta F7k has 6A Microcode (OC Non-K CPU).
With latest UBU 1.47.1 ,you can try to change Microcode (latest is 76) and see if helps.
