the F8e BIOS listed in the first post does NOT have 1.20E AHCI ROM
i have extracted it with cbrom and looked at it with a hex editor and it is 'Version iSrc 1.07 08042006'
    i7 950, Gigabyte EX58A-UD3R (2.0), 3x4GB G.Skill PC3-12800, HD 6970

is there a thorough guide for doing those mods ? i see that no one mods the DS4, and GB is kinda slow to implement them, i might give it a try.

Ya, I tested the ones I did myself (For testing purposes) again and I think I just was confused between switching between a 920 and a 965 during testing. All my mods are correct as well, I think I just was asleep/confused when I tested them before.

I'd love to help, but since Gigabyte does not support that I think I better not.

Just google how to use Cbrom and how to use Cbrom to replace PCI ROM's and you will find out pretty easy how it is done. As for getting the roms, you will either have to again google to find someone who has posted them or grab one of the modded BIOS's and extract them or download another brand of boards BIOS and the proper tool for that BIOS type and extract what you need.

I have Intel RAID ROM 8.7.0.1007 for anyone who would like to have that to use (PM Me), I just do not want to upset my connections at Gigabyte by posting modified BIOS's. I did once and pulled it a few minutes later after I thought it over.

Thanks Stasio. The pyt0 mod works with spiflash and all options for dram and qpi are in the bios, the only prob yet found with both f8c versions is the incorrect amps and watts displayed in everest ultimate. Thanks, hopefully will be ok and stable until the next beta bios which may include ahci 1.20e as standard.

You would need the DES Software installed, it will show you how many phases are active at any given time
