    About the F8f Bata Bios

    I just got the Corsair Dominator 6GB (3 x 2GB) Model TR3X6G1600C7D G, designed to run at 7.7.7.20 at 1600.
I had the F7 bios in my X58-UD5, overclocked, and running my old memory at 1600, I put the new memory in, went into bios and changed all memory timings to the SPD settings for 1600 and restarted my computer. All I got was the computer started then one long continues beep, then a reset, and the window coming up in post Overclock Error, bios was set back to stock settings, was not able to run the new memory at 7.7.7.20 at 1600. I changed the memory multi from x10 to x8 and was able to run the memory at 1304, 7.7.7.20, no problems ran prime 3 hrs.

I looked on this Forum for info on Gigabyte Bata Bios changes since the F7, I found a site that had logs for the various Bata changes.
Gigabyte New Bios, Stasio Reply #1442 on page 145, click on the word “this”. Then look under Gigabyte Motherboards>Info List New Bios (X58 only).

It said that the F8f had a fix for the Hyper-Elpida Memory Chips which are the chips in my new Corsair memory sticks. I updated to the F8f bios, and am now able to run my memory at 1600, 7.7.7.20 with no problems. Ran Prime95 for 4 hrs no problems ran Memtest86+ for 2 hrs no problems.

Have my 950 DO CPU Overclocked to 3.9, 163 Bclk, Turbo on, CPU multi x24, memory multi at x10, memory speed is 1630. CPU 1.30875V, Dram 1.66V, CPU/VTT 1.320V, Prime95 for 3 hrs no problems, Memtest86+ another 2 hrs no problems.

The F8f Bata fixed my Corsair memory problems….

Nice! its good to see that the bioses are helping prevent incompatability :)
I plan on skipping over F7 for my UD5 if an F8 addresses stability or compatability issues.

    Hi to all
This is my first post on this forum, and I'm impressed because of the high technical level I have seen on the posts I've read.
I have received a new GA-EX58-UD5 motherboard, and an i7 920 step D0. both are still in their boxes, as I will mount them next weekend.
What I want to ask is if you know the BIOS version than comes by default in boxed motherboards, and if it boots with this 920 D0 processor, at least enough to upgrade to the latest BIOS. I have not a 920 C0 to boot first and upgrade the BIOS.

    Thanks

I don't know which bios came with your UD5, but it will boot your D0 for sure (then upgrade your mobo to the latest bios )

    p.s. welcome aboard.

I got a week using F9D bios for the GA-EX58 UD4P, cleared out several bugs from F8 bios, also managed to improve my vtt/qpi, dram voltages. Dropping them as we speak with more burning test using Intel burn test 100 passes at max. give it a shot if you have long booting Intel sata problems fixed, also Cpu fan controller works on voltage mode, controlled by temperature ! this is great now my pc is very quiet :D dont have to use Easy Tune...

Hi all , This is my first post in here.
I found this site while googling for GA-X58-UD5 issues (slow post) ect.

My board came shipped to me with F7 bios. I also have a i7 920 D0 and am having some problems with overclocking. What is the best BIOS available for this board?

    Would it be F8f?

BestIhad so far was F8B,overclocked well and was very stable , C/D/E sucked, Had to add extra voltage when overclocking (about two steps more). Now running F8F , same performance as F8B , So I'd say F8F
