With F8F on my EX58-UD5 my USB keyboard and mouse wouldn't work when my boot manager (DOS mode) popped up either. Discovered that, in my case, this was resolved by disabling power up by keyboard and mouse. As soon as I disabled these two functions I could again use my keyboard and mouse at my boot manager.

Not sure if this is a solution to the people that seem to lose USB keyboard and mouse in DOS mode or not? Hope it helps someone.

Cheers,

so I updated to the latest BIOS:
GA-EX58-UD3R - F7
(seems to work ok, same old)

but I see a new Hard Drive setting:

"eXtreme Hard Disk (XHD)" (enable or disable)

seems like this is for RAID?
can anyone confirm this? (is it on the Extreme mobo's bios?)
seems like when u enable it
u cannot select AHCI or IDE

so I am guessing it is for RAID only?
am I correct?
Thanks

I also have a X58-UD3R and just updated from the F5 BIOS to the new F7. Everything worked out just fine (after a few adjustments and bootups). I was able to use the same voltages and OC with the new F7 BIOS (which is really nice in my opinion). Now my bootup is a lot faster (i've been waiting for this official BIOS for a long time - i was starting to think Gigabyte had forgotten the poor users of the X58-UD3R, but fortunately i was wrong...).

The only problem i got regards the use of my USB keyboard during DOS mode. The problem doesn't affect when i try to enter bios setup, it only doesn't allow me to switch from Windows Vista to Windows 7 (which doesn't make sense in my opinion, as i'm able to press "DEL" to enter setup). The issue can be solved using a simple PS2 adapter, but if anyone can suggest a solution for this, i'd be thankfull.

If anyone wants to know, S3 sleeping state is working just fine (more good news).

Regarding Shane's question about the RAID, i'm a RAID user. After a few tests, i can tell you it's exactly what you imagined. The "XHD" option is for RAID users, because when you select it the setup automatically disables the AHCI and IDE options. My only doubt is about the first option below this one. It allows you to select: "IDE", "AHCI" and "RAID (XHD)". After doing some tests, my conclusion is that it doesn't matter if you choose to set, in the first box, "XMD" or if you set, in the second box, "RAID (XMD)" because the result is the same (the RAID will work fine with both options).

Hope i could be of any help...

Exclamation Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS

After sifting through perhaps 40 pages of threads, I still haven't found an answer to this:

Does any bios after F8 for the EP45-U3DP board solve the S3 sleep issue?

I'm currently on F8 and it has issues resuming from S3 sleep. On my board it doesn't power cycle in an infinite loop, but it does "freeze" for about 3-4 minutes (in Windows), after which all the actions that I've performed like opening some programs/windows will only then show up.
