From what Lsdmeasap said that sometimes they update the BIOS versions with various fixes and still call them the same number. we discussed it here in this link about halfway down the page.
http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/ep45...01/index3.html This thread has all the latest BIOS version numbers listed at the beginning. Or you can start a thread and wait for help like all the rest. Sometimes Lsdme can get you the BETA BIOS versions or show you where they are located. The only way to find out if its newer is to try flashing and see if it helps or if you notice any changes in the BIOS, like I mentioned earlier in this thread. But make sure to load optimised defaults after you flash your BIOS. Then set your ram volts and then save and roboot back to BIOS. If you run RAID or AHCI drives the set all the values needed. and save and reboot to windows.
    Max out
I have never heard you need to load optimized defaults then save and boot back into BIOS. I though it loaded them immediately. Hmmm I will give it a try next time.
    Thanks

Edit: I see it now in the Q-flash guide. I know what you're saying. Thanks.

Well if you have not heard to load optimised defaults then have you read the BIOS flashing thread yet? It is located in the Gigabyte forum and here is a link http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/bios...h-guide-27576/
I think its half way down in the thread somewhere. This is the Gigabyte Forum Moderators thread and if the mod says you load optimised defaults you load optimised defaults

I am still wondering if the latest BIOS will be here, or on the Gigabyte website. Does anyone know. I assume it would be here but the one for the P55-UD4P sure looks older than the one on the Gigabyte site.

Which two versions are you concerned about here? I can grab them and check for you which is newer

Currently we do not have proper access to the latest Beta BIOS, so this thread may be behind a version or two for some models

    F4m or F4p for GA-P55-UD4P is what I'm wondering.

Also thanks for letting me know to load optimized defaults BEFORE flashing. I had never heard this before. I will do it from now on...

Edit: try out a low spec graphics card, C1 will be quiet then, but if you have a high powered graphics card, the chokes will squeel with C1 and C3 and all those features.
    Thanks again for your reply.

With regards to the BIOS revisions though, why do I not have the whining noise with BIOS revision F8? With F8 it's fine, theres no such noise. It's only when I flash with F9+ that the noise appears.

Thanks for the clarify Max. I know about that. I was concerned about someone saying you should load optimized BEFORE flashing and the mod says it's a good idea.

BTW - F4r IS on the Taiwan Gigabyte site (I guess .TW). I got it and flashed it. I see what happened...it came in on RSS. They must include all support sites on the RSS feed. I currently have F4r for my GA-P55-UD4P. Seems to work fine.

Here's the link for anyone who wants it.

So no need for me to check m and p then correct? If not, glad to see you found a BIOS you like!

Yes, it is a good idea to load optimized before you flash, but it is not a must
