    I think they understand the CPU architecture completely. There is QPI on a socket 1156 CPU too, it's just "hidden" from the end user in a way. On 1336 CPU's, DMI is present too.

    QPI on a 1156 CPU is used for internal communication between CPU and the integrated MCH etc. The flow of data would look something like this:

    CPU
    |
    | QPI
    |
    V
    MCH (Northbridge) ---> PCIe ( 1 x 16), DDR3 (two channels)
    |
    | DMI
    |
    V
    PCH

    So without knowing exactly what settings you're referring to as being misleading, gigabyte may or may not have mislabelled them. I'm betting on not.

    Hello

    Does latest BIOS GA-EX58-UD3R (1.6) - FD7 resolve following problem:

    If I turn off HyperThreading in bios, motherboard reboots every 1-2 seconds after start. The my current bios is official FB.

    Or where can I see log of changes (history) of this new bios version?

    Please help!

    ========== two hours later ...... ========

    I have checked some minutes ago.

    It works fine !!!!

    This bios FD7 JO resolves problem with HyperThreading for GA-EX58-UD3R (rev 1.6) !!!!

    Thanks all!!!!

    LSD!!! how ya been ?! do i even wanna know where u been? great to see you and glad your back with us. I still havent tried out the UD3R f8g bios, though i really should as i feel my system has nothing to lose. Lately i just been overvolting trying to see what clock will be my board/cpu's limits. So far it has got up to 4095, that was on the F6 Bios. My current f8d cannot run those same settings without crashing less than a minute in. Hopefully F8G's "improve power and compatibility" will further stabilize me a bit.

    Just updated to the EX58-UD5 F9h and there seems to be something funny going on with the clock multi.

    anyone else had this problem? as a few previous posts before mine, the multi will only let me default to x21.

    x21 is the default... Not sure what you are asking? Do you mean you want 20 or less, if so set that and disable turbo

    Ok so went back and checked..

    if i set the multi to x20 witch makes it 2.66 as my cpu is.

    bios/cpu id is saying its at x21 and the cpu @ 2.8

    i double checked that it was on 'standard' and it is, its not on turbo.

    am i missing something or is this an issue with the new bios?
