I feel its to do with the bios. The latest bios here for that board does not detect on the usb drive however the bios from the official gigabyte site has no problem.

The bios from that site has 2 more files when you unzip it.

Please advise as to how I should go about updating the bios.

PS- I have already updated the bios to the one from the gigabyte site (From product page GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS - GA-EX58-UD3R (rev. 1.6) ), that bios did not work out well I tried using the files that came with it and using the bios file from here but still the board is not stable. Once I am sure I have a good bios we can discuss settings .

    Thanks

Please flash from DOS using FlashSPI that comes with the official downloads, the new beta BIOS you are asking about likely contains a new version of Qflash and you would either need to flash from DOS or @BIOS. And I do not suggest @BIOS, so please flash from DOS.

Did you already try it from Qflash? If not, please see the guide here and try flashing it from Qflash >>

Hi thanks for your reply I have tried using the FD8 from here using Qflash but had to go a round about way to install it as i have mentioned in the earlier post.

Am using FD7 now set uncore frequency to 32xx and PCIE from auto to 100 and its a lot better.

190 bclk almost stable I think.

I will try flashing using Flash spi

I'm not sure why this should be happening. Can you confirm that you load optimized defaults, allow Windows to boot once then shut down and enter the custom settings you may use?

To confirm (for me), my latencies on F10j are within normal range, maybe on the lower side:

160ns sounds like you're running in a single channel mode or some very loose timings. You might wanna try erasing DMI data.

Strange indeed. You've done the right thing by flashing back it seems. I must say, it makes a change hearing that someone had a problem with a BIOS and simply flashed back without any moaning/nastiness. I've just been on the Asus forum and they're all a bit rude tbh.

I was just greeted by the expected site of "Windows is no longer activated due to a hardware change". I knew it was coming.... Time to image back to a backup that was created befoe the F10i issue.

@KayossZero, I'll image back to XP first and see if my NICs behave themselves. If I understand right, it's with QuickBoot on, and when you power off completely and cut AC. I have the same double boot as you ofc, so I may be able to reproduce the error. I'l have to reboot a few more times because my QuickBoot is still verifying DMI Pool before booting. I believe it stops after a certain number of successful boots.

Oh no not that activation thing again.
    weird

It's OK. The only reason I need to activate again is because the new F10j has restored the Vendor ID.

    Put simply:

Change in vendor ID to blank info > Need to reactivate as Windows thinks it's a new board.

Fixed Vendor ID to read the correct values > another reactivation due to Windows again thinking there has been a board change when there hasn't.

For anyone moving from F10f or any older version directly to F10j, there will be no activation issues for them.

I'm posting this from within XP. I tried to replicate your issue, including making suer I was powered off long enough to trigger the double boot.

I was unable to reproduce the error. It may therefore be down to a difference between our BIOS settings or indeed NIC driver version. If it helps I am using version 5.696.616.2008 from, ofc 16/6/2008. Both NIC's are on line after several double boot starts, QuickBoot enabled.

    Strange...

Hmm that is odd! I'm using driver Realtek RTL8111/8168 Lan Driver-5.738.1120.2009 (XP 32/64) from our very own "Latest Overclocking Programs, System Info, Benchmarking, & Stability Tools" thread. Perhaps your older driver doesn't have this issue. I have tried testing @ complete stock BIOS with optimized defaults loaded with the same issue.

It doesn't really matter a whole lot since Quick Boot doesn't really quicken the pace for me anyways but thanks for the testing!

P.S, LSD F10J bios still doesn't have the option to control a system fan in the "PC Health Status" bios menu, it only has the cpus. :(
