Hi to everybody and Stasio! I have a i7 930 and GA-X58A-UD7. I have some problems to activate a Hyper Threadingin bios. When it's off, CPU-Z show a proper No. of cores, but when HT on, it's shows only 2 cores but 4 threads. I tried 3 bioses F6, F6 Test1, F7b. Anybody knows an issue? Attachment 2381

    Ouch!

Are you loading optimized defaults when you see that? Have you checked for bent CPU Socket pins?

My question is why has Gigabyte abandoned the GA-790FXTA-UD5?

There has been 2 official bios updates for this mb.

    F1-dated 11/09/2009
    F2-dated 12/03/2009

    In 6 months only 2 official bios's.

    On the other hand:

The GA-890XA-UD3 has 3 official bios update.

    F1-02/05/2010
    F2-03/04/2010
    F3-03/18/2010

    3 new bios's in 1.5 months.

    The GA-890GXT S850

    F3-02/08/2010
    F4-03/08/2010
    F5-03/18/2010

Again 3 bio's in less than 1.5 months.

So why has Gigabyte abandoned the GA-790FXTA-UD5?

If I had known there would be no bios support for a dead end product, I would bought ASUS or another brand instead.

I have noticed that Intel mb's, get bios updates almost dailey.

Finally found out whats been ruining my overclock with the later bioses, spread spectrum MUST be enabled. Those days of "disable spread spectrum to help overclocking" are over..

Guys keep in mind, sometimes new BIOSes are not made if no issues are reported or nothing new needs added in. If you have an issue or feature you need added into the BIOSes, you must send in reports so they know there is problems or something they need to add.

Send in issue reports or feature requests here, asking them to forward to the BIOS team.

Sometimes a BIOS is great, and may not need updated at all for a long time, so just because you do not see updates for something doesn't mean it is abandoned.

This must be machine specific because I'm also using an EX58-UD4P, my overclock is higher than yours, and I most definitely don't need "spread spectrum."

    Congrats on resolving your issues.

I should add to this as i found that occasionally cetain setups will need some quirky things enabled to be stable such as VT or Spectrum. Ive found out about these strange losses of stability through process of elimination setting by setting eeek heheh

Hmmm..., I was tested with optimized loaded default, but there was the same situation.
Also, I have the PC with with GA-X58-UD5 and with i7 920, on this PC the same situation!!!
On both PC's Just installed W7 Ultimate x64 OEM.

So now i found out the problem!!! In W7 control panel -> adminisration ->system configuration -> advanced load settings I was set No. of cores "4"
When I roll this setting back, the cpu-z shows No. of cores 4, threads 8.
