Another update of AHCI ROM? Shall we expect that on other boards as well?

Probably just an update to AHCI ROM 1.20E unless an even newer version came out that we don't know about.

    Hi,

I've just purchased a gigabyte EP45-UD3P rev 1.6 Motherboard and plan to update another PC I have with this board as well. I have always used Asus boards but heard about this board and thought I'd give a try with my Q9650.

I have somewhat loosely perused through the past 300 odd pages but if anyone could so kindly please state all official and betas bios' released for this board and what date each bios was released.

I've gone to the OZ GA website to have a look at their bios' and they have the following:
    FA: May 7 2009
    FB: May 20 2009
    FD: Nov 24 2009
    FE: Mar 12 2010

I understand there's also a beta F10 bios but I don't know when this was released. I've also downloaded an fea, don't know its release date.

There's also 10e, 10f, 10j 10k and also don't know their release dates and if these are for ver 1.0, 1.1 or 1.6.

Just wanted to know what all the bios release were with dates or if anyone can point me to a site that has all this information would be much appreciated and which is the best bios for me to run.

My system comprises of the following:
    All Bios Settings are stock.
    Gigabyte EP45-UD3P v1.6 Bios F10
    Intel Q9650 CPU Stepping A Revision E0
    Thermaltake bigtyp 120 VX Heatsink/Fan
    2 x 2GB Patriot Viper PVS24G8500ELKR2 DDR2 1066 5-5-5-15 2.1v Slots 2, 4
    Samsung 1TB Spinpoint F3 HDD
xFx ATI HD 5770 1GB PCIe Video Card
    Pioneer DVR-218L DVD-RW
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I have tried to use a pair of Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500C5D Dominator 4GB DDR2 1066 5-5-5-15 2.1v ram modules but the system would either not boot, crash/bluescreen. Has anyone successfully used these modules on this board and if so, what bios are you using and settings to get this memory working? I have read somewhere that these modules should have their voltage set to 2.1v instead of the stock 1.8v?

Does this also mean that I should set the voltage for my Vipers to 2.1v as well or leaving them stock at 1.8v which they seem to run fine with?

I also have an EP45-Extreme but neither the Vipers or the Dominator work with this board. Mind you I haven't perform and bios changes to try and make them work. I currently use DDR2 800 modules that seem to work without a hitch

I am using this setup for Video Editing/Games and do not want to get into overclocking yet and just running a stock setup with no tweaks but I want to eventually O/C my sysem sometime soon. I have tried O/C this board to 3.5GHz manually via bios with no luck but have successfully set it to this speed using Easy Tune 6 via Windows.

I'm only new to overclocking so I have a lot to learn. :)

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Cheers
    Pasadena.

Current BIOS for your board is FE as per page 1.

Keep an eye on this thread as stasio will post when a new (beta) BIOS is released for your board.

Yep, page one will have the latest BIOS for your board, and a link to "Previous Versions"

I suggest the latest, and yes I assume your memory should be 2.1v being 1066Mhz, and as per the specs
    http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/t...96-8500c5d.pdf

As for your vipers, you would need to look at the specs of give us the model # if you are not sure, it should be printed on the side of the modules (The voltage and or model #)
