Hi guys, it been a while since I posted here and I see theres been alot of *****ing going on, dont worry im not going to add to that, I have a genuine question and very strange issue.

I have a GA X58 UD3r rev 1 board which has been working fine without any problems really for well over a year now, my first question is does anyone know the fixes for the latest beta bios for this board and if it will help me with the following issue.

yesterday I restarted my computer after installing a new driver, the bios got stuck at verfying dmi pool data, duh, ended up me needing to make a clean instal of windows and everything else I have installed, now im running an ocz 96gb vertex ssd on this board as my main drive which was on the achi controller, however now I have had to disable achi in the bios and set my drives as standard for some unknown reason, it would appear my achi rom isnt working any longer, it just freezes on that screen whilst trying to detect the ssd, (its always worked before by the way), if I unplug the drive the achi rom detects all the other drives fine and continues, the ssd hasnt changed in anyway and the bios detects it fine as a standard drive.

im running the offical f6 bios by the way and if im not mistaken I believe there was an achi/raid rom update included in it as well as some fixes and the menu changes.

    any clues anyone, TIA

I had something similar happen to me in Nov 2009. My system (GA-EX58-UD5) starting acting wierd. BIOS getting stuck at startup... sometimes my boot drive wasnt recognized etc. I started a fresh install of Windows and that died too. The problem wasnt the board it was my OCZ 120gb Vertex SSD. As far as I know OCZ doesnt have any special diagnostics. I came to the conclusion that it was bad when a standard Windows format failed. Fortunately for me, I had a dual boot setup with an older WD Raptor as an alternate boot volume. I returned the failed OCZ Vertex and got a replacement. My experience has taught me to be sceptical of any SSD claims about superior reliabilty when compared to traditional hard drives. FYI, I am now using an Intel X25-M SSD as a boot volume ..lol

I'd go ahead and flash to the latest BIOS, making sure you disable Keep DMI Data in Qflash before you flash, then once done fully clear the CMOS for 20+ minutes.

Then start the system and load optimized defaults and save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS, once in the BIOS be sure you set your SATA/Disk setting again before you try to load windows.

If that doesn't help then you may need to RMA your drive, have you tested a normal hard drive in AHCI mode to verify if it's the mode that's failing to work or the SSD?

Well I went ahead and flashed with the latest F7g beta bios for my board, Still no luck though, im still not able to use my SSd in ACHI mode, all my other drives (2) work fine when my SSD is disconnected, so ive had to stick with standard IDE mode for now, looks like im gonna have to eiher try and flash the drives firmware or RMA it which is going to be a right pain this time of year.

    Thanks for the help guys.

As for the beta bios, they should make it official, my system seem much snappier and faster with this bios, way better than F6.

    Question GA-EP45T-UD3P - F8k

Wondering if anyone tried latest GA-EP45T-UD3P - F8l bios?

Got it loaded via QFlash (following the guide) and noticed garbled text in one of the BIOS menues (think it was integrated perephirals, last 4 lines where Legacy USB Storage option is). After a reboot went there once again and from now on entering that menu was freezing the PC. Tried re-flashing with flashspi (loading defaults before and after) and had the same stable freeze with garbled text at the end of the same menu.

Downgraded to GA-EP45T-UD3P - F8k and that looks good so far. Wondering where that problem coming from, any ideas?

Another question, is it possible to find release notes from latest versions for GA-EP45T-UD3P mobo? Searched the hell out of google and forums and was able to only find a note for F8l on DE website and official F8c "Beta bios" note. Could not find anything for F8d, F8g, F8h, F8k. Really want to see what is fixed and changed there apart from few things I noticed myself (e.g. quicker scrolling for voltages and correct auto 1.5v for my RAM instead of 1.7 as with F8c).

As for BIOS change logs, when Stasio or myself get them we post them, if not we do not. There is not enough room character-wise for each updates log to be posted on the main BIOS posts on the front page, so that is why they are posted with the BIOS updates as they are added. There's simply not enough room to add them each time updates are made.

As for the change logs themselves, sometimes the BIOS engineers give them, and sometimes they do not, so that is why you do not always have a change log. There is nothing we can do about this, we've asked a few times and they have improved a bit in frequency and descriptions, but the BIOS team just does not have the time to include and translate BIOS changes every time.

These are beta BIOS, and as with anything beta you use at your own discretion. If you do not want to flash a BIOS without a change log it's very simple - just don't flash it.
This just about needs including up front, if it isn't already, as it's such a FAQ.

This is as good a changelog as you'll find, I think. It covers the finals, and ATM a "recent" beta GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-EP45T-UD3P (rev. 1.1)
