    Happy new year !

    I have updates Mobo X58A-UD7 rev. 2.0 to the latest Bios FC from the previous release FC6. Now i have big trouble with my SATA3, beacause i cant access my raid 1 in bios anymore. These are two WD RE4 1TB Drives. (Enterprise drives - so you dont have to expect the caviar black problems). The raid was initialy build under Bios revision FB.

    The update process was FB -> FC6 -> FC7 -> FC

    Now i always get the message:
    "SATA3 IS NOW WORKING IN IDE MODE, CHANGE TO RAID MODE FIRST. BESIDES, HDDS SHOULD BE PLUGGED INTO SATA3 PORTS AND REBOOT THE SYSTEM TO CONFIGURE SATA3 RAID IN BIOS SETUP MENU."

    In Windows the MRU (Marvell RAID Tool) Reports -> all fine

    After that i have FORCED the bios update of the controller.... no luck

    Bios Version: 1.0.0.1027 -> 1.0.0.1029
    Firmaware Version: 2.1.0.1504 -> 2.2.0.1113

    After that i have done some experiments with all the setting (auto to raid and all that stuff) .... no luck
    The speed with the new Bios is also bad. If someone wants to know i will also show you the screens of the différent tools.

    After that i have done some experiments with all the setting (auto to raid and all that stuff) .... no luck

    Now i want to know if there is somebody out there with ideas and even with some helping hands....

    Need help with that - because i dont want to destroy the raid again.

    regards

    Have you tried going back to the beta bios to verify that everything still works as before?

    Yes you can go back, and should if you are having issues.

    That was a known bug on some previous Beta's, and I thought they fixed it already in most all BIOSes.

    Please send in a report here, they will know what issue you are talking about (Well the BIOS guys will know, not sure about the support team?)
    GIGABYTE - Support & Downloads - Technical Support

    In the meantime yes go back to the previous BIOS if you cannot access your array in windows with the Marvell controller set in AHCI mode.

    From what I noticed, similar to what you mentioned, this was just a BIOS side bug and I could still access and use RAID arrays in windows and in the MRU.

    So you should be able to use the array still, just not access it in the BIOS, right?

    If you go back, set the firmware to Force and save/apply/reboot so it will force back in the older firmware.

    good morning !

    (i have also do a reply with some speedpictures here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.p....html#msg30630)

    i do a backup of all the data at the moment. After that i will try to go back to the FC7 release. I also wanted to open a ticket at gigabyte because i thought not so much people have the same issue (raid on marvell chip). If i want to open the ticket i always get error page (IIS 403 error) even if i go directly to the start page: http://ggts.gigabyte.com/

    So i cant open a ticket: Is there an email or something elese ?

    So as i wrote i will
    - Do a backup
    - Force a downgrade to FC7 from (FC) and try to access the raid.
    - After that i will do an upgarde to FC from (FC7) again.
    - Then i will give you more informations.

    And yes: Im still able to access the raid under windows in MRU.
    Can someone give me a short description about how the marvell raid works.
    I have normaly only used adaptec cards. Where can i see that something is wrong with the array during boot (for example). Can i only see this under windows ???

    till later ...

    sorry for beeing so late but i had a lot of work to do ...

    i have testet teh downgrade to Bios FC7 release and even without forcing a downgrade of the marvell bios i could access my raid in bios without any problems. So the bug seems to be in the FC Bios of the mainboard. Could someone tell me how i can give these infos to the guys from gigabyte ?

    if someone else hase a good idea - write it down ... i need an idea how to go on ...

    Someone else wrote, that i should use the Intel as a raid. The prroblem was, taht i have installed the system with an ssd in ahci mode on the intel. And if i switch to raid mode now i get the bluescreen and missing bla bla info now....

    By the way: The random Question is also buggy ???
    What is the current year? We accept 2 digits or 4 digits form.

    HEY for P67A-UD7,UD5,UD4

    BIOS now has CPU PLL Overvoltage Unlock feature that allows high overclocks on D2 ONLY revision ES and all retail.
    D1 stepping ES like mine will not boot with this setting enabled.

    Ahh cool to know it's not the actual firmware. You didn't see it auto update right, just checking because I know some BIOS are set on default Force Update.

    About your Intel issue, this other drive/OS is in AHCI mode right now correct? If so great, if it's windows 7 or vista all you need to do is make the following registry change within that OS and then shut down and move your other drives to the Intel ports and make your new array, then set RAID in the BIOS and you can then boot to your other OS as well.

    You can test to verify if you want before moving the drives over to the Intel ports, but I assure you it works for those OS's anyway.

    Here is the registry edits you need to make, do these and shut down and enter the BIOS and set RAID, then you can boot to windows and you will see you can now boot in RAID Mode.

    Enable switching between all IDE/AHCI/RAID modes by changing "Start" Values in these keys to 0 (Win 7 / Vista ONLY)
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci\Start
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide\Start
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStorV\Start
    The secret question, I'll change it now, thanks for the heads up!

    *Edit*

    Fixed, let me know if it still is incorrect for you because it was set to 2008 where I changed it and of course that didn't look right either, so I may need to change it somewhere else as well.
