Just upgraded to the new hybrid efi bios, I wasn't able to boot into windows in AHCI mode, black screen after "Verifying DMI pool data". Had to switch back to IDE. Went back to F7g via @BIOS.

I had the same problem with X58A-UD3R ver.2.0 and going from ff2 to ff8 had to repair boot sector of Windows drive twice - this is with same overclock settings I was using with ff2 . It must be a similar problem .

    System specs :

    Xeon E5620
    X58A-UD3R
    Corsair XMS3 1600 CL8 XMP
    Corsair HX 850 W
    BFG GTX295 single pcb
    1 Tb WD GP ( Hdd's on iCH10 ports AHCI , native mode )
    2 Tb Hitachi Ultrastar
    Liteon DVDR

    Overclock specs :

    211 x 19 ( EIST , C1E , Virtualization etc. disabled , HT on , Turbo on )
    36 x QPI multi
    14 x uncore multi

.. and the rest of the specs can be seen below

ICH core set to 1.14v ( you can't see it in Easytune )

    [/IMG]

As you can see in screen shot , I've gone back to FF2 .

Red face Re: GIGABYTE X58-UD7 F8k

Wonderful!.. x58-ud7 now has a new efi bios F8k. I don't know anything about what ROMs does it have (espesially about 4 ROMs that usually was modded by some users at this forum), 'coz AwardTool can't dump modules...

And now it has a 2048 kbyte. Super! But some questions are first:

    1. Awardtool v.1.50 cannot understand this new bios with error 6 (Rus: Переполнение в результате выполнения арифметической операции) (Eng translation: Overflow as a result of realization arithmatic operation). Maybe we could wait for newer ver. of AWDTool?

    2. What module has an EFI image?

    3. AmiTool and PhoenixTool reports that this is not their bios, only AwardTool.

Angry Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS

Guys, anyone knows if load Vdroop in p67a-ud3 is fixable?

I mean, its a hardware issue or with proper bios LLC tweak gonna do the job in the future?

Also, if someone have hardmod info for solving this issue, please post it here. I feel bad for having a chip that can easy up to 4.8ghz with 1.35v on other boards, but due this problem i need to set at least 1.44.

Already tried crossflash ud4, ud3p and ud3r bios. Didnt help at all. ud5 and ud7 bios doesnt work, since theres so much different components between boards.

The sad thing is that with $20 more i would have a super stable model from another brand. Please dont release such crap motherboard no more, or at least advice that its not a suitable board for overclock and not "Hardware OverVoltage Control IC - Enabling Extreme Overclocking".

Here are 2 articles on vdroop :

    1. Anandtech

    2. The Tech Repository

I guess that in layman's terms it's a drop in voltage ( vdroop ) caused by increase in power ( amps ) . I am pretty sure that this affects Intel and AMD cpu's alike , contrary to what may be said elsewhere .

Correct me if I'm wrong .
