According to this ID's are teh same for all cpu's, the 000206A7.
the xeon board has phoenix bios, can't look inside for cpuid's. and can't find the flipped bits in the P67 bios either. It is confusing.
They could be, sometimes I've seen a few that are the same, but not generally the whole lineup, so best if we can check to be sure if at all possible if you are waiting to purchase.

Please download this app here (In CPU ID Tab), then submit the details and this will show you the CPUID String we need to crosscheck with the BIOS
    Intel Xeon E3-1230 CM8062307262610 (BX80623E31230)

Also, did you already send in a ticket to GGTS, they'll reply on this if you have asked, but maybe we can find out before they reply?

This is how we will crosscheck once you have CPUID information submitted, via the model number ID string and the corresponding family ID's already in the BIOS

The PDF's you linked indicate different ID Strings actually, unless the made errors? I see 000206a7h for the desktop CPU's and 0x0206a7h for the Xeon's, maybe it's a grammatical error on Intel's part and maybe the BIOS does support both under the same ID?

*EDIT* I just asked Gigabyte directly right now, since my contact just replied to me on some other issues, so I'll let you know if I hear back on this.

Yeh I installed the Beta to try and solve an audio issue. Now I get no boot screen but Win7 starts up fine. I went back to F12, but still no post screen. I need to get into the bios setup.

I'm trying to find some help in this massive thread to no avail.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

If you are using USB Keyboard, try using a PS/2 keyboard to get into the BIOS and enable or disable full screen logo. If you are just not seeing the splash screen, but are cool with that and just want into the BIOS, you should be able to just keep hitting delete as soon as you startup the system and you'll eventually get in the BIOS. Or hit Del shortly after you see the keyboard light up, then you may need to enable USB keyboard and USB legacy once you are in there if you are using USB keyboard, and you may or may not need to use a PS/2 keyboard to initially do this.

If you still can't get anywhere, even with a PS/2 Keyboard, try clearing the CMOS by shutting down the board and then flip the power supply switch off. Then wait one minute, and press and hold the case power on button for a minute, then either short your Clear CMOS pins for a few seconds or press and hold your clear CMOS button if your board has it (For a few seconds)

Is it possible the fact that xeon cpu's support working together with other cpu's give them a different cpuid even if they are exactly the same apart from that small detail?

How do they usually differ from regular cpu's intended for the home market, people have been buying xeon's before instead of the consumer version and it's been ok?

Some Xeons are DP and some are not, and compatibility on the CPU's designed for single use just depends on if the CPU ID String is in the BIOS or not usually.

Aaah, ok, so the hardware compatibility is there, but the bios needs to suppport it as well? Can that be fixed via a bios update, or does that also depends on the bios itself?

Come to think about it, it probably does, a lot of boards can support new CPU's that weren't eveen released when the board/bios were made, but not all, and those times it's regular consumer cpu's we're talking about.

So basically you have to have the luck to have bought the "right" board I guess. :)

Off topic: When will Gigabyte challenge EVGA and their dual enthusiast boards, kingpin just used one of those to break the 3dmark 11 record. :)

Is there anything like that coming from gigabyte, or is it already here and I've just missed it?

Yes, for single use processors the hardware is compatible, not sure about the DP ones, but yes either way the BIOS has to support the CPU as well. A BIOS update or modification can add compatibility, if the hardware supports it, but that is not something Gigabyte would specifically do for a Xeon CPU as they are not meant for desktop use.

I am not sure if Gigabyte has any dual CPU board plans, they have not released any boards in the past like that though so you didn't miss it :)

Ok, but that might be the next step couldn't it, I mean when the software catches up and most programs can take advantage of more cores. Feels like the graphics side have moved ahead of the CPU side at the moment with 2/3-way SLI/Crossfire. And more CPU power could be useful for the most crazy gamers out there, not to mention other categories like 3D software users. Because they normally don't buy server boards do they?

Sorry if it's been asked, but for P67a-UD3 (non B3) , is it possible to use the newest P67a-UD3-B3 bios?

Update Intel RAID ROM - 10.5.0.916
    Update Realtek - v2.39

Please flash at your own risk, both BIOSes have been tested and are working, enjoy!

And before anyone asks about the UD7 F4a RAID ROM loading on it's own screen, this is not due to the Mod's, I tested the original files and they now do this. So Gigabyte has changed something making the AHCI and RAID readouts load on separate pages for some reason.

Please flash at your own risk,

    UD3-B3 - F3 for UD3-B2

    UD3 - F6 to go back to B2 firmware

Use latest @BIOS to flash and report back.
