    Nope

You need to install in AHCI mode, or if you are in IDE mode you need to make some registry changes in windows before you switch the BIOS to AHCI mode
Enable switching between all IDE/AHCI/RAID modes by changing "Start" Values in these keys to 0 (Win 7 / Vista ONLY)
    [code]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Msahci\Start
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Pciide\Start
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\iaStorV\Start

To flash the backup BIOS follow this video guide, you may need to use a PS/2 keyboard or USB to PS/2 adapter

I think he is talking about modding the new ahci rom in to his bios. Where he may have added the new rom but its not invoking it self because of using the the wrong cbrom. Like the problem I had when trying to use it.

Ahh ok! Ya if you use the wrong version of cbrom to edit then it can fail, and if you insert a ROM that isn't for your chipset it can fail too.

If either of those happen, clear the CMOS and set the BIOS to IDE once you get back into it, then you can reflash an unmodified BIOS.

198 is what you want to use for P67/Z68

If you are trying to insert a ROM that's not for P67/Z68, then you need to hex edit it to change the chipset device ID, it's really not worth it for the same version of AHCI ROM 1.20E is 1.20E

However, it's much easier to change the ROM without hex editing, if you can link me to the original BIOS that the ROM you want to use came in, then I can extract it for you while changing the ID at the same time.

    Hey LSD and Ace,

So I suppose rather than starting at step 12, start at step 0. Is there a change log floating about with the AHCI changes between versions? Secondly, is this something I could request from Gigabyte (or possibly get more clarification on what to edit)?

I am running my drives in AHCI mode now and want to use "da best". Newer is always better ;-p
