Since the memory size of the BIOS chip is smaller, the new BIOS will only feature advanced mode, not the graphical 3D mode.

I found after flashing Bios (Z86) that windows had to rebuild my entire driver base. I don't know if that is a 'normal' thing, but after a couple of restarts all was good. Had to manually hold power button in to switch off machine, could be a setting in options maybe. I will post back on this.

As promised (at time of your post,BIOS not ready yet) :

    GA-Z68P-DS3 (1.0)

    - 16.May 12 (8:18 PM Taiwan time)

Just updated my GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 to the U1a EFI BIOS and thought I would share a couple of points.

Make sure when using the FLASHEFI.EXE that you type the command exactly for the BIOS file name. At the C:\ prompt it should be:"FLASHEFI xxxxxxxx.xxx" the x's denote the BIOS file name (for my motherboard the command line was FLASHEFI Z68XUD3.U1A) and remember to use the fullpoint or FLASHEFI won't read the file and you will get an error.

Before updating the BIOS re-set original BIOS to Optimised Defaults.

Once you have updated to the EFI BIOS and restarted your PC once again load Optimised BIOS then after restarting you can enter BIOS using the "Del" key to make changes.

When you have made the changes and BOOT your PC, if you are using Windows, then the OS will need to reload drivers and a restart will be required.

Upgrading to EFI BIOS will require you to reactivate Windows.

As has been previously mentioned, this BIOS is still in development and some of the features are not fully functioning yet, so I would advise only upgrading if you are prepared for this eventuality (especially if you are O/C'ing) at basic default settings the BIOS is working fine.

TouchBIOS doesn't seem to work with the EFI BIOS ...... yet.

    hope this helps.

Thanks to all those at Gigabyte who are working hard to roll out these new BIOS updates. I really appreciate your efforts.
    Thanks to absic.

Is it possible that somone can please update X58A-UD7 rev2.0 bios with latest Xeon microcodes . I'm running Xeon X5675 in my board successfully , but top of CPUz reports cpu as Xeon X5667 . Also , when oc'ing with all power saving features disabled , CPUz will show cpu frequency at set frequency , but in Tmonitor 104 it shows reduced frequency per core , only when running prime95 will clock itself up . I experience the same results with 990X which is officially supported .

BTW - It seems the family and stepping of the X5675 is exactly the same as the X990 , except the X5675 doesn't have unlocked multi . OC limits seem to be almost exactly the same . wouldn't mind laying my hands on a X5690 . Memory bandwidth on 990X and X5675 also similar , bandwidth on Xeon E5620 ( probably hexcore with 2 cores disabled ) is much better , seems like same imc catering for 4 cores instead of 6 , making it much more efficient ( from 16000mb/s to 20000mb/s at similar settings ) .
    Xeon E5620 @ 225x18 1.325v | Corsair XMS3 1800 8-8-8-248 @ 1.66v / QPI 1.52v | Gigabyte X58A-UD3R ver 2.0 | GTX295

Could some kind knowledgeable soul please inform me about two things. I have a GA-X58S-UD7 [v.1] board with the latest Bios, but three times now I have lost the bios [why?!] and it backed-up from the second Bios [thank goodness!]. But there were NO major malfunctions I could detect to cause this and my prime question is why is the second [back-up] Bios only with a very old Bios version [maybe the first I put in when I got the board? Is there a way to have both have the new - and not to loose the settings I've entered in the CMOS table?! Thanks much.
