Yeah, I get that part, is why i'm ordering the non-k new cpu, I'm wondering if the gigabyte bios supports vt-d as I need both to support it or do I need to swap m/b. All the questions I can find on the forum about it are about older m/b.

really want this with dual tbolt though, so not sure what I could swap too :o

What's so good about VT-D? Does lack of it decrease performance in a VM significantly?

I have tried my 3770s in the UP5 and it does support VT-D. The option will not show in bios untill a supported cpu is installed.

VT-D allows you to pass devices though from the hose to guest VM. ESXi is the host operating system running a couple a VM's on 1 physical computer. VT-D will let your take a raid card or network card from the host system and pass it along to the VM and the VM will think its native hardware to the VM and allow you to install drivers for that device and use it.

Thank you so much! Tricky of them to hide the option, that's a big relief in my plans for storage nirvana.

I would suggest getting the 3770s as it supports VT-D and is low power which is a plus, and I think it was cheaper then the 3770 at newegg.

I loaded the optimized defaults and turned off hyperthreading, changed the memory to its XMP profile, disabled the realtek audio, and selected the integrated graphics, as I am still waiting for my video card. After enabling and disabling each of these options individually, it turns out that disabling the realtek audio at the bios level was causing the reboot loop. It only took me 6 hours and alot of memtests to figure this quirk out Can anyone else recreate this?
WOW the realtek, I have not heard of that causing the problem or even thought it could be that. My cycle loop problem really only starts up every week so i have to wait about a week to work out if i fixed the problem.

I am now trying the power saving settings C1E C3/C6 thermal monitor and eist function as i read that disabling that cause the motherboard to go on the cycle loop. I had them disabled for the OC but now i have them enabled to see. I will find out within a week or so if that is indeed the cause.

This motherboard is really pissing me off.

Hi i actually tested myself flashed back to F8 checked the ME firmware and it reverted back too old version, then flashed back to F12 and newer version was present. Its safe to say its all incorporated in the bios.
F12 seems ok even sleep seems to be working, its jus the boot loops im tryin to sort. Also no point having dual bioses if we have to flashem both & set them the same. I also noticed i couldnt get ALT + F10 to work with F12.
Loading profile from usb also an issue.
