I am about to test the FX-8350 on 990FXA-UD5 rev1.1 with LN2 tomorrow, friday and saturday (live). In the two current bios, F10 and F11, is there any voltage limit? I would like to be able to set up to 2.0v.

    Hi stasio and Gigabyte,

I am having a problem which I hope you might send on to Taiwan. My configuration:
    - GA-Z77X-D3H v1.0 (F16d BIOS)
    - Windows 8 64-bit - UEFI boot
    - Infineon TPM 1.2 with 3.19 firmware attached to the TPM header on the board

The TPM works fine. I am using the TPM successfully for a Virtual Smart Card (Building "Windows 8": Using a TPM Virtual Smart Card - YouTube).

However, Windows reports error FVE_E_NO_TPM_BIOS when trying to set up Bitlocker encryption.

I have debugged and found the root cause of the problem. The BIOS is not doing a required step in the "TCG EFI Platform Specification" (http://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org...20_revision_10). Section 6.1 "Measure code into PCR" requires that EFI Firmware (i.e. Gigabyte BIOS) measure the Windows Boot Manager EFI application into an EV_EFI_BOOT_SERVICES_APPLICATION event in PCR4.

The GA-Z77X-D3H F16d BIOS is not performing this step. When Windows goes to find the EV_EFI_BOOT_SERVICES_APPLICATION event in the TCG log, it cannot find it, and the FVE_E_NO_TPM_BIOS error is raised. (I looked at the events for PCR4 on my machine and there is only one event, of type EV_SEPARATOR.)

I expect that if you set up Win7 or Win8 on this board in your lab with EFI boot, attach a TPM, and then try to set up Bitlocker, that you will hit the same problem. It might be an American Megatrends problem.

I think it is an EFI problem only. Windows Bitlocker behaves very differently when using MBR boot.

    Thanks!!

Looks like the BIOS for GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI is broken. Trying to overclock my i7 3930K here is the result I get.

    1. Disable all Turbo features and all power saving features and set multiplier to 44x.

Expected result: CPU running at 4.4GHz
Actual result: CPU running at 3.2GHz

    2. Disable all Turbo features and all power saving features and set multiplier to 45x.

Expected result: CPU running at 4.5GHz
Actual result: CPU running at 3.8GHz at boot only, then at 3.2GHz in Windows.

    3. Enable all Turbo features and all power saving features but increase the power envelope to the maximum and set multiplier to 44x.

Expected result: CPU running at 4.4GHz with no throttling except when idle.
Actual result: CPU running at 4.4GHz at idle, and throttling when under load.

    4. Enable all Turbo features and disable all power saving features and set multiplier to 44x.

Expected result: CPU running at 4.4GHz with no throttling at all.
Actual result: CPU running at 4.4GHz at idle, and throttling when under load.

    5. Enable all Turbo features, set maximum turbo multiplier for each core at 44x and disable all power saving features and set global multiplier to 44x.

Expected result: CPU running at 4.4GHz with no throttling at all.
Actual result: CPU running at 4.4GHz at idle, and throttling when under load.

When the chip starts throttling the BCLK is also not holding perfectly steady at 100MHz but goes down by about 1-2MHz as reported by CPU-Z. Temperatures are under control completely, and the chip itself is cooled by a dedicated HW Labs BI GTX480 radiator and an EK Supreme HF block. This board right now with the current BIOS releases does not work for overclocking at all, at least not with C2 i7 3930K. I have verified that the same setup works perfectly with a Rampage IV Extreme. Are there any plans for a fix for this board? The behaviors I described above are completely broken.

yes. cpu microcode is sent from intel to gigabyte to add cpu support or better improve compatibility and/or improve overclock.

The bug with via usb3, my usb3 devices are only recognised with intel usb3, usb2 devices work bad. Drivers are up to date and I tried changing parameters in bios(like xhci) but still not working.
Apparently I'm not the only guy with this problem
