stasio, do you have any more details? What was the identified "issue" because I know that a few of us are unable to OC with this board since the throttling kicks in no matter what the settings, current, power, or temperatures.

Update: I saw from your reply to my thread that this was intended to address our issues. I will test out the new BIOS as soon as I get home from work tonight and report back. Can you clarify what was done exactly, just so I know?

    Update 2:

So, I bought a new chip today, chosen at random from a completely different batch...here are the results with the newest BIOS F4o (same happens with older BIOS)

First, the new F4o BIOS made no difference at all...I am not sure what the change was supposed to be, but I cannot see any difference at all between this and F4n other than the fact that the RAID option ROMs are updated.

    1. Throttling - No improvement, chip is still throttling all the time
    2. Multiplier not set correctly when turbo is disabled - No improvement, disabling turbo and then setting a multiplier to any number always results in default multiplier (32x) once Windows loads
    3. Memory compatibility - No improvement, still unable to run 8 banks for 2133MHz memory

Now, as I said, I even went out and bought a completely different chip, and the results are exactly the same...nay, they are even worse with the new chip. The throttling is even harder than before. The screenshots posted in this thread so far have been with a batch #3203C288 chip. The two screenshots below are done with a brand new chip I bought today, batch #3152C721. Throttling is even worse than before. This is also using BIOS F4o, just for the record. This is supposed to be a 4.4GHz overclock, with multiplier set at 44x.

Throttling all the way down to 32x...

And bouncing around, here at 39x

So, this is now multiple kits of memory tested at various speeds (from 1333MHz all the way up to 2133MHz) with no improvement to the throttling, as well as two completely different i7 3930K C2 chips chosen at random from two completely separate batches both throttling. Now either the firmware is seriously faulty, or I have a seriously faulty board. I will keep both chips until this is resolved, just to prove a point. There is a really serious problem with this board.

Seeing as the UD5 and UD7 are the only two Z68X boards missing a UEFI BIOS, I assume it's only a question of time? I've been waiting anxiously since July, since the award BIOS takes eons to POST ;)

Changelog for the X79S-UP5? I'm going to try it tonight to see if it fixes any of the throttling issues or memory compatibility issues. F4o did not fix anything.

By the way, I have now bought 2 Core i7 3930K C2 CPUs, two GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI boards, and three different quad-channel kits in speeds ranging from 1866MHz to 2133MHz and all of them, including both boards exhibit the same exact throttling problems when overclocking. I actually prepared new screenshots to post in the thread I started here demonstrating the behavior with the new GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI. Unfortunately, at least with BIOS F4o and earlier it suffers from the exact same problems. My latest test results with a new GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI board can be found in the post here http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post442672
