I hope they release a version for my card. It's a GV-R797OC-3GD Rev1.0, but it can only be flashed with a bios ranging from F1-F9.

    Hello,

I also already requested support at Gigabytes Homepage, but as it's very urgent I want to ask this here too.

    GPU : ATi Model : HD5870 2GB
    CPU : AMD Model : Phenom II 965 CPU-Speed (Mhz) : 3400
    OS : Windows 7 64-bit
    RAM-Vendor : Kingston Type/Model : HyperX DDR3
    RAM-Size : 2x2GB RAM-Speed : 1600
    Netzteil : 550 W
    *Question
    ---Sata-6-Gbit-Controller Firmware Update---

    Hello,

I have some problems with my new Samsung SSD 840 Pro Solid State Disk. When it's connected on the Marvell SE9128 Controller/SATA-6-Gbit-Ports of my Gigabyte-Mainboard I get freezes in some games. This does only appear if the SSD is connected to on one of the SATA-6-Gbit-Ports and only if the Standard Microsoft AHCI Driver is used/installed. Therefore I would like to update the Firmware of the Marvell SE9128 Controller (to test if this solves my problem).

I found the Marvel Firmware on this page:
    Marvell drivers
    "Firmware pour MV-91xx Version 2.2.0.1125b"

Is this the correct Firmware for the Marvel Controller used on the 790FXTA-UD5? Can it be used to update the firmware of the Controller which has been used on the 790FXTA-UD5 or do I need a different firmware?

    Thanks in Advance!

It would be great to get some feedback within the next days, as I plan to send the SSD back to the shop if the problems are persistent and cannot be solved.

    with kind regards,
    Seb89

    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,

OK, thanks I will then open a new thread regarding this topic.

PS: I have had installed the Marvel Driver as well, but it had a poor performance, thats way I am using the Microsoft AHCI Driver. The Firmware of the SSD is up-to-date.

    Default P67a-ud3-b3 u1c

All, decided to give the most recent bios, U1C a try. I had tried the U1A and U1B versions before but they had issues with cpu fan control so had switched back to award bios version. Anyways, to try the U1C, I first upgraded from award to U1A and then in the bios tried to use qflashh to load the u1c. All seemed fine and followed instructions to reboot. Upon reboot, no video but hard drives sounded like all was working. I then tried to clear cmos and now nothing except a few beeps at boot. Maybe one long beep and two short beeps with all peripherals unplugged from board.

Anyone know what these beeps are telling me? At a loss for what to do now. Thinking of trying a blind back flash efi to award but not even sure it is reading hard drives.

Any suggestions for next steps are appreciated

So u have no output ? No video nothing ? Fans are turning ?
Well if the flash BIOS failed.. U can easy recover it. Your MoBo should have DUAL BIOS support. Push the power and the reset button at the same time until recovery mode appears...

Thanks for the help, did not know that I could get into recovery mode by pressing both buttons. I was able to get into recovery mode but for some reason it took 5+ boot loops and not sure what the prob was but thought I was a goner. For those wondering, the new bios (p67a ud3 b3 u1c) does not allow overclocking (i52500k) as setting the multi seems to have no effect. Nor is the cpu fan control correct as max the fan speed spins is around 500 rpm. Guess I am going back to award bios again for now, hate the process as windows asks to reactivate each time I change the bios version to and from efi to award.

I don't know why the OS asks all the time reactivation.. I have no problem with it.. never had.. only if i changed GPU ... BTW in BIOS/UEFI try Voltage or PWM(fan control) instead of AUTO.. Auto doesn't work well...

As much as I'm a fan of new BIOS releases still being published for older hardware, that no change logs accompany the releases is bad development practice. Even if changes are experimental, they should be documented so they can be properly tested. I have to blindly go into this BIOS release (Z68X-UD3H-B3 - U1k) and poke around without guidance to find out what's changed.
