    G1.assassin2:

    12r bios

    iRST driver

    Vertex 4 x 2 -512GB

Drive drops from array AND is not detected by intel firmware (aka drive disappears, breaking the array)!

The only way to get it back is to secure wipe the remaining member.

Why has Gigabyte given up on us X79 folks? I've had nothing by problems with this board....

You may want to try the modded 12r with the latest 12. Orom included by stasio - In RSTe mode instead. Works great !

Assassin2 x79, stasio's 12r OROM update seems to be working for now. V3.6 of the RSTe, and 12.6 of the iRST.

Restored from backup and used modded BIOS without issue, after removing iRST 11.5 software.

Unhappy Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS

    Hi, My system specs are:-

    GA-Z77X-D3H
    i5 3570k
    Silencer 600w mk III
    GPU HD 4000
    KHX1600C9D3/4GX (2X4GB total)

I have experienced very weird issues lately amongst bsod error 0x0124 when flashing my bios to F18c (latest). In one instance of overclocking I would save an overclock and reboot to have it set in the system in order to prime but only for the bios to load defaults by itself. When I attempt a previously saved profile in the bios to see whether it will fail to load, it would load them as required but going above that while overclocking would not stick in the bios, so I reflash the bios only for it to accept my attempt to overclock higher but fail to reflect increase in vcore in windows as I try to up it looking for stability. On the next reflash the password and few other settings remain in the system even when crossing from F16 to F18c. I normally flash the bios using a flash disk formatted in fat32 and clear of nothing except the bios file only and prior to that make sure that the CMOS battery has been out for atleast 30min. I have even ordered for G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB to replace the kingston pair because of that 0x0124 just incase the rams are the ones responsible for the 0x0124 but I feel it is more of a bios issue, when I flash I wouldn't be stable even at previously overclocked prime95 12hr settings, I would get WHEA Logger errors and even upping the vcore doesn't help, they still show up. I seem to be getting different results on every flash of the bios. I am stumped I don't know what to do.

    Found it, thanks!

G1.assassin2 12r modified BIOS with the iRST 12.6 OROM from Intel spliced into the BIOS caused my SATA III 4k write speeds to be 30MB/sec faster than either the 11.5 OROM OR an LSI 9271-4i, which isn't supported by LSI anyway on that motherboard.

I'm sure than even after settling out the 12.6 iRST will crush the LSI FathPath firmware add-on to the 9271-4i. [LSI doesn't seem to care about gamers that want more than 2 SATA III ports...]

Also, I noted that CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 32GB [(4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMT32GX3M4X1866C9] still fails to run properly in the G1.Assassin2. Either at 1866 or 1333MHz it generates tons of errors at the default power settings.

On the flip side, the Crucial 32GB kit (8GBx4) [Part Number: BLT4K8G3D1608ET3LX0 Package: Ballistix 240-pin DIMM Feature: DDR3 PC3-12800 Specs: DDR3 PC3-12800 8-8-8-24 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR3-1600 1.35V 1024Meg x 64 Low Profile] worked in XMP Profile 1 without issue; though I did have to set the command rate MANUALLY, which seems to be Gigabyte related.

I'm able to run VMWare Workstation 9, 2 x ESXi 5.1 hosts, a 2008R2 AD DC, and an iSCSI server on the same host without an ability to crash.

Clearly Gigabyte needs to get off their butts and fix the G1.Assassin2's firmware issues...

oh, and fix the detection issue with the Creative audio so we can use the latest drivers... They got new ones for the X-Fi for a reason Gigabyte!
