    Issues I have noted with EX58 UDP4 F8a bios...

    1. Leaving all settings as default turbo mode works (goes to 21 on load)

Setting any other setting other than 20 disables turbo, in other words 19 will not budge, in prior UD5 bio's and older UD4P bio's if turbo was left enabled it would go to 21.

Seems like a bug, it was really nice to be able to skip over 20 (which a lot of 920's seem to hate) and lock in 21 by disabling some advanced CPU options and get much better OC'ing

    2. I am also getting a DRIVER_POWER_STATE BSOD failure with this bios when any overclocking is used, all voltage settings are in AUTO, BLCK 150 to 185, Multi 19 (or 20 on lower end, this chip doesnt like 20 like so many other 920's)

I will start regressing to older BIOS to see if this problem is related, the only difference between this and 6 other builds is the power unit, every other piece of hardware is the same, driver version, OS etc.

In non-overclocked mode this does not happen, strangely enough IF I load the system at 3.8Ghz and 100% using PRIME95 it runs without issue for 24+ hours, leave it idle where the load changes up and down and it happens within 20 minutes... very very odd.

Any news on the OC'ability of the X58 Extreme F7c?
I only started to OC seriously after flashing to F7c and I am having a hard time getting stable at 4.2GHz (200bclk) with 1.52v while the seller of the 920 said it did 4.2 with 1.4v.
He might be 'fibbing', his (same) mobo might be better or this bios is worse.

I didn't try it on older/release bioses yet as I am trying to prevent needless flashing.
(I had an old F4 bios and needed to update it, so I chose F7c)

    Good enough for me

Beta's are always tricky, they may be a pot'o gold or a burning poopie bag. Thanks for your input, I think I might try F6f and see what that does.
But just out of curiosity, did you try any newer bioses, like F6i or something? Why didn't you like the release F6 bios?
I mean, how did you decide F6f was the best? (unless you tried them all)

And of course you're right, there are too many options to set, I'll contact him and ask. Good point. Anyone else?

Yes, i try to use them all. F6f is the bios which i can run the lowest volt settings for my cpu and no cold start problem or Ram Timings or something else when oc'd.

    review of the GA-EX58-UD3R - F6b BIOS

seems like the double/triple false boot issue is rampant in the BIOS
    (compared to the F5)
I have been recording my boots for the last week+
and really even with high volts and OC, the F5 bios only gave me a triple false start 1 out of 10 boots (and it was the coldest temp in my house that morning...temp related?)
the F6b, has given me problems 2 out of 3 boots, all didn't boot up, needed 3 tries
so I flashed back to F5 (we are almost there with the F5 bios guys, please don't go backwards on this double/triple false boot issue)

    btw
the UD3R F6a BIOS was also terrible with Double/Triple False boots

we are so close to fixing the cold boot issue on the F5
just a little more tweaking Gigabyte

(my OC settings are P95 overnight stable...and I always run the exact same bios settings in every BIOS I test btw)
