Stasio, X79UP4-F5c is a nice step forward, it's probably the most stable BIOS i've run since something from the F3 builds.

I've noticed a problem this morning with F5c. I upgraded to Win v8.1 Pro x64 yesterday. When I turned on my computer, it opened to the BIOS screen. I shut down, restarted, and it booted to the BIOS failed overclock screen. This never happened with Win 7. No BIOS settings were changed. I loaded my profile, saved, exited, and it booted into Windows. I'm not sure what the cause of this is, but I'm going to test it a little more.

Well i had that problem to when i had fast boot enabeld.but i'm back on windows 7 because i mainly play fsx and red orchestra 2.I saw other users reporting that they can't get past 4.3 with f5b,with f3u modded i could go over 4.6 but i don't dare to use or know how to use the ftk tool to flash my bios back.

Yep, that bios booting issue is the ultrafastboot option/fastboot, gets worse when your overeclocked, if not overclocked then the bios booting is random, overclocked makes bios booting issue all the time, gigabyte reproduced it so there should be a fix, but im not sure if it will go out to all x79 boards, they tested the issue on g1assasin2.

That was the case of Fast and Ultra Boot being enabled. Thanks for the heads up gents. I tried to reflash back to F5b for testing and it wouldn't boot at all. I had to force a manual reflash from the back up BIOS. I'm back on F5c, since it seems to be working for what I need. Fast/Ultra Boot only gives me a few seconds, as I have to wait anyway for my sound card to turn on before the login screen appears. Secure Boot seems to be working fine, after figuring out the keys needed to be installed. I just noticed my BCLK is dropping down under 100MHz in CPU-Z, but I have it manually set to 100.00 in the BIOS. Dropped all the way down to 38MHz. I also noticed that the GbE control settings are missing in F5c. I would like to be able to get back to a stable 5.1GHz daily overclock again, without other BIOS issues causing problems. Hopefully, the BIOS Team will get all of these UEFI wrinkles ironed out for all of us soon.

If you clear cmos, the base clock will/should go back to 100mhz, seems to alter itself when overclocking, had a problem myself, could only get 99.6mhz, even setting it to 100 manually never worked, clear cmos worked though.
