    On Gigabyte website:

    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 2011 - GA-X79-UP4 (rev. 1.1)

Final BIOS F5 available for Rev.1.1 X79-UP4 board only.

Why is Gigabyte not adding the new BIOSes to Rev.1.0 X79 boards anymore on the official website ?

I can only offer a bit of speculation here. Most of them were discontinued a year ago and did not see any BIOS updates, not even betas, from january through june when the IVB-E CPUs were about due. I suspect Gigabyte does not test biosses for discontinued boards throroughly enough anymore to justify a release status. Currently AFAIK only the UD3, UP4 and UP5 are made and sold so those see release versions of BIOSses. The betas seen on Gigabyte's download pages for the discontinued ones (UD5, UD7, G1.Assassin 2) could be considered "almost release", and the ones appearing here on TT are actual betas.

Just my observations that also match my experiences with the X58A-UD7, no insider infos, but maybe Stasio can help us with that?

If that is the case then Gigabyte surely deserves a class action lawsuit. Someone should contact consumers associations.

    Hello,

There is a "ErP" issue with the Z77X-UD3H (rev 1.0) and the bios F18 (not beta), F20a, F20d.
As soon as I do a ClearMOS and load optimized settings the ErP works and no more power is put to USB when the system is OFF, as intended.
However, as soon as I tweak the Turbo mode of my i5 3570K, the ErP even marked as enabled doesn't work anymore. If I reload optimized settings and switch ErP ON, it doesn't work still. I have to do a ClearMOS to make it work again.

I can tweak USB, disable intel graphics, ErP will work but even if I only change the XMP profile, ErP fails and I have to do a ClearMOS...
It's just impossible to use it if I want to use the XMP profile or any O/C, I keep searching a bios which is not affected but taking an old bios is not very pleasant.
I tried those bios (F18, F20a, F20d) on the "Recovery Bios" (I did save the original one on this one) and same issue again.

Do you think it's a mainboard issue ?

EDIT : Since I posted I did test the F18, F17, F16 : same result, ErP Fails and only a ClearMOS can make it work again.
I did find the a BIOS where every tweaks + ErP are possible, this is the original F5 bios. I will try F7 to F11 before posting again.

EDIT▓ : F19e is having the issue too. I did put the F11, tweaked the CPU settings, RAM settings etc and ErP works fine with this one too (F7, F8, F9, F10 might be OK too).
So the issue is affecting bios F16 to F20d.

I hope my feedback would help and that the future bios wouldn't have this problem.

I can give a few facts. I bought my X79-UD5 with BIOS F8 in February of 2012. In the coming 6-8 months release BIOSses came out every other month or so until F12. During that time I saw quite a few improvements, mostly concerning the onboard LAN. Starting with F12 there were tons of betas and no release BIOS anymore. F13 saw literally all letters of a-z. During these betas ever since I have seen quite a few changes in the "feel" of the BIOS' stability and some long term issues vanishing and appearing. Starting in november of 2012 F13p and later biosses started throwing 2-4 "ME Engine has been reset" bubbles in the event viewer one ach and every boot. No effect on the system but a weirdo. That vanished after F13t when they put microcode 0710 into their own BIOSses. Until september 2013 Gigabyte did not BOTHER and stuck with 070B which was released in march of 2012. Most other makers changed to 070C pretty quickly (Released in may 2012)...Gogabyte as OEM (!) took 15 more months despite my brushed off complaint on bluescreens with iRSTe enabled.

The IVB-E BIOSses F13u-F14a were real game changers with every release and made stabilizing my processor seriously annoying! Try figuring out what it is THIS TIME over and over again, and overall higher core voltage than the last SB-E BIOS F13t. Well, come to think of it.
Those betas and such a number noticable repeated changes since the last release would have justified just as many releases as we saw in 2012!

So we have a phase of frequent release BIOSses until the end of 2012. Then AFAIK the board was discontinued and the looong series of betas came.

Good news tho. F14b appears to be more stable again at lower vcore.

    Hi

I'm running win 7 x64 on a GA-Z77XUD3H. I was using the F18 bios but was getting Windows event 12 HAL errors; The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system.

I updated the bios to F20D hoping it would cure this problem but the problem got worse and I got a beep from the pc speaker whenever I resumed Windows from sleep and the sound recording feature stopped working on the on-board Via audio. There seems to be an issue with the Via audio as there are instructions for Windows 8.1 users to update the audio driver but nothing regarding Windows 7.

I reverted back to the F18 bios and all is well again with the Via audio; I'll have to see if i keep getting the event 12 errors.

There are obviously 'problems' with the F20D bios and Win7 and/or via audio.

It's been well over a year now since there was a stable bios update for this board; way too long in my opinion.

    Happy new year, everyone.

    Andy

Red face Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS

I have a gigabyte assassin 2 f12y ,memory f3 2400 gskill 8*4, cpu intel 3930K. This spec is not problem, but I recently bought IBE cpu intel 4930K. The problem is that I have installed ram 32giga(f3 2400 G.skill) but total mem is shown 32giga on setup menu. However, My system is shown 24giga and window7 reported total mem is 24giga. so I changed cpu 3930k at this time, on gigabyte assassin 2 Board Setup screen total mem 32giga and windows 7 reported total mem is 32giga.
I think that next bios soon will be released. If anyone knows this problem and help me , many thanks in advance.

    This problem is solved.
