    GA-Z87X-UD5H BIOS F8f

*Once again, uncore on "Auto" is allowed to increase automatically instead of staying fixed as in F8e. IMO staying fixed would the right direction.....but I guess that's debatable....

*Missing & greyed out items in Advanced Voltage settings, still.

*Channel A RAM timings still not appearing on main page of UEFI BIOS since F7.

But (in my opinion) allowing uncore to change by itself is not optimal. As I said, BIOS F8e "Auto" setting kept the uncore locked on 35 for my 4770K.

I forgot to check if Vring is still automatically increasing when set to "Auto" & clock is increased. In prior versions I've had Vring jump to 1.3v with a OC of 4.6. If set manually then it does not stray so far.

I wish so much that the good folks at Gigabyte that are responsible for BIOS would pay attention to what they change....when something good happens in one version, then disappears with the next, you have to wonder what is going on. Also I do not understand why Gigabyte is so slow to upgrade firmware in BIOS...fortunately we have some great folks here that can do that for us.

    Just IMHO.

I'm still using bios F8e on the Z87X-UD5H, and there are the following issues:

    - System suddenly shuts off after 60 seconds of inactivity at the password screen of Bitlocker. I have asked about this on other fora, but no-one seemed to know the cause. This problem happens even with a clean installation of Windows 8.1 with no 3rd-party software, and with different psu's and hdd's, and with no external devices connected except for mouse and keyboard.
    - Changing fan settings in the bios or changing from fast to ultra fast boot seems to corrupt the boot sector, since when I change those, hibernation doesn't work properly any more: the system doesn't resume from hibernation.
    - It frequently occurs that the cpu fan speed has changed from its normal "silent" speed of ~1200 rpm to a constant ~1800 rpm after resumption from hibernation.
    - The fan connected to sys_fan 1, which is an identical model to the fan connected to sys_fan 3, doesn't spin up as easily as sys_fan 3. It frequently occurs that sys_fan 3 spins up normally, while sys_fan 1 stays stuck. Both fans are Noctua NF-A14 PWM fans. I have applied the exact same settings to both the fans in the bios ("Normal").

Does BIOS F7 work well for you? It works pretty good for me, but I like the way the uncore is treated in F8e so I will stick with it for now, or actually virtualfred's F8e mod 2.
I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64 and I don't think I will be in any hurry to "upgrade" to Windows 8.

No, F7 produces the same issues.

How do you flash the secondary BIOS?

I've tried pressing ALT+F12 at POST, even swapped the USB keyboard for one with PS/2. Tried both ALTs and it does not work.

Also, an update for those who are using a SSD as cache:
    F17G working
    F17 working
F18 not-working (shows up as incompatible)

Anyone got any feedback about GA-Z87-D3HP - F6f ? Im still using f5j and I got this friggin wierd issue where all is fine then I reboot and i start getting mass "The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm" errors in my event log, I reboot a few times ( sometimes can take 3-4) and it goes away.

I'm really puzzled to whats doing it. IF anyone has any advice on diagnosing this I'd be very happy :). I can go 20 days no error then reboot and it goes crazy. I really think it has something to do with motherboard bios but dont wanna waste my time trying others if they have issues (apart from what i wrote above all is fine) I know its not hdd as its only that error and rebooting a few times fixes it. I dont think its graphics card as it goes away and runs perfectly for ages ( only triggered by reboot) and its obviously not memory psu or anything like that.

Damn annoying position to be in though "scared" to reboot pc.

Heres a screenshot of whats going on :

    Attachment 6486

Like I say the batches happen after a reboot and go away rebooting multiple times and monitoring the situation. PRetty sure its not a driver issue too as I've tried every single driver including beta's since the release of my card and same always.

You might try downgrading your video driver....that's one of the fixes I've seen posted around the net. Seems to be a pretty common problem.
    Good luck.
