    Ya, tRD of 8 wont work on the 400 Strap, so no need in trying. And yes, you are going about your testing just fine.

    Yeap, more bandwidth in Memtest is a indicator of better perfromance for sure.

    For Benching I use SiSandra and Everest Ultimate, 3DMark 06 and Vantage is more of a graphical test then anything. You can, and I do, use PCMark 05 that is a good complete system test with more tests on other things as opposed to the other "Mark" software

    Ran Everest last night btw, and got this

    What do you think? Good? Bad? Pretty good? Could be better?

    I will try you suggestions...as well as lower volt (though I did try lower volt on MCH and dram a while ago...but that was during some other tweaking and failed, so I don't know....I try again....and verify in memtest FIRST. What I have learned is that one change at a time only.

    The memory is specified to 2.1 V @ 444-12 800MHz, so I though since I am running them at 833 MHz it would be safer to increase a little.

    Scores look good. Na, that 33mhz is not enough to make your ram flinch!

    Hi,

    OK. I will go down the "lower the dram volt" path for sure :-)

    Just a last question before I start fiddling around. I get back here with my results on how it goes.

    I am thinking about adding the skew of 100 ps to start with and run a pass or a couple in memtest. Then lower the dram to 2.1, run memtest again. Then lower the MCH. Btw, does the MCH influence the CPU stability or just the memories?

    Then if the above turns out OK, either do the strap change you suggest or work down the timings...or both :-)

    Sound like the way of doing it? Or would you do it differently? So many ways...would be nice to get some expertice guidence here, leading me through the labyrint .

    MCH can affect CPU Stability at higher FSB Speeds but not really until then unless you were to use under stock or something

    Strap change, well you would need to loosen the ram up again to try the tighter strap likely. Or you would be trying to find which caused it to error or not boot with them all tight already. So best to loosen them first

    Ya, there is TONS of ways to go about doing things. If you really want to know how I do it.... I pick where I want and set it, then find proper timings. I start low, but I know what does what so it only takes a few changes to get things going. That way would take longer if you are not sure about each setting.

    So best to always have the Ram loose and voltages high if you plan to change FSB or straps and then tighten things down once you are sure where you want to be

    What's your guesstimate of performance increase I would see if I got the 333 strap working together with some tight timings?

    There is saying "last 5% takes 95% of the time to fix" or something like that...

    Hi Lsdmeasap,

    I tried swiching to the 333 strap instead of using 400, but no luck, I couldn't get the tRead value lower than 9. I did loosen the rest of the memtimings before I tried it.

    Anyway. Would like to thank you a lot for all the help, since I feel that I am happy with my settings now (for now... :-)).

    Maybe in the future, I will boost up the rig more...because it feels like it could go a bit further.

    When started, my definition of stable was 1 hour prime, then 2, then 5, and now it is 8 hours. I remember going from 2->5 hours, I had to increase the CPU termination from 1.28 to 1.3. Now 8 hours work well.

    In windows, CPU volt is between 1.23 and 1.3. Is this what's actually fed to the CPU?

    Here are some screenshots and the bios settings I want to share in case anyone is interessted in volts, settings, bechmarkscores etc to compare with or get ideas. I know that I was when I started off.

    Yes, what CPU-z shows at idle and load is the actual voltage being given to the CPU

    Settings, scores and temps look good!


    You should see how these changes affect your everest scores as lower is not always best after a certain point >>>>

    Same board w/ e-8400, a-data 2x2 vitesta extreme 1066+

    memtest passed 2 times with the config below. Haven't tortured w/prime yet. But windoze logs perfectly w/1.42. Windoze can't start w/1.36, reboots soon after logging w/1.40.

    questions;

    _any suggestions about the values of ram?cpu? anything?
    _Are VID & VTT values high, will they cause any troubles?
    _Does 400 MCH make difference so much? Memtest is likely giving errors in 400 latch but 333 is ok i guess.
