    Unhappy Re: GA-X48-DQ6 Memory Problems

    Hello all,

I'm browsing this forum for the last 2 weeks, tried a lot of settings but i'm not able to get my system stable..

    MB:X48t-DQ6
    Mem: Ocz3p13334gk , 7-7-7 @1,8 , PC3 10666 (from sticker)
    CPU: E8400 3ghz
GPU: Sapphire Ati HD 4850 512MB
    Bios: F4 (no changes made)

Bought my components 3 months ago, and it worked great! No problems at all, memory running dual channel (DDRIM2+4) . Before the problems i dident change anything in the Bios.

3 weeks ago i would like to boot my pc from hybernation ('sleep stand') and got a lot of boot loops, sometimes a half POST to be seen..

After the 5th boot loop it beeped continuous long beeps, the manual says, 'graphic card not inserted properly'.
Removed card, and put it back in. No solution
Got a new videocard (the same), replaced it; same problem, changed PCI-e slot; same problem..

Picked out 1 mem bank, and it worked.. changed mem bank also works.. (tested the memory and says no errors)

    Slot:
    DDR1; 1x2gb , continuous long beeps
    DDR2; 1x2gb , continuous long beeps
    DDR3; 1x2gb, system ok
    DDR4; 1x2gb, system ok

DDR3+DDR4 2x2GB no boot, no beeps..
Looks like slot 1 + 2 are defect?
Tried almost every setting recommended in these forums, but no solution.. and now i'm kind of lost.. returned settings to default en typing my problem..

Anyone some ideas? I couldn't find anyone with the exact problem (type of mem and board..)
    Thnx in advance!

Hmm so all sticks work fine by themselves one by one in slot 3 and 4 right, but not 1 and 2?

Are you changing performance enhance to standard and setting your ram voltage for these tests? If not, do that and try again before you decide if 1+2 are bad slots.

    Thnx, for the quick reply.

Yes, the sticks work fine, just 1 by 1 except for the first two slots nr 1&2.

It worked before..? for 3 months..

Now i changed all the settings in the Bios to standard or auto. I need the pc for work sometimes, and have little 'free time'..

    -edit-
Yes I've tried the specific voltages (voltage is 1.84 standard) and speeds. Didn't solve the problem.

Could you reccommend alternative settings for this memory type? I'm quite lost after trying settings from similar posts. (settings earlier in this post didn't work..)

Hmm, you may have bad slots onboard then? Not sure how it could be caused though unless you maybe had loose ram sometime

Try this for stock CPU Speed with all of your ram. You may need to use only one stick and set these and then shut down and try them both in the slots you think are bad >>>

    Code:
Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto or Fast]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [9]
    Fine Clock Ratio ____________[0.0]

    Ok, thnx for the info.

I started trying.. tested serveral settings, please see the attachement, otherwise the format is messed up due forum width.
Next one i'll make in excel.

    OK, some explanation per test:

    #1
    Settings #1
    1x2GB
    Slot 3
    Boot/post: OK
    OS: OK

    #2
    Settings#1
    2x2GB
    Slot 3+4
    Boot/post: NO boot, restart loop
    OS: No
4th boot, pc boots, settings for Ram en CPU Host freq, changed themself to auto? Bios recovery function??

    #3
    Settings 1
    1x2gb
    Slot 3
    Boot/post: OK
    OS: freezes

REBOOT, trying to change values in BIOS, Bios freezes (first time ever in my life this happens)

Next boot able to change things
    #4
    Settings #2
    1x2gb
    Slot 3
    Boot/post: Restart loop
    OS: none
4th boot = ok, bios settings automaticly changed
After this, boot ok, os ok.

    #5
    settings #3
    1x2gb
    Slot 3
    Boot/post: restart loop
    OS: none

    #6
    Settings 4
    1x2gb
    Slot 3
    Boot:OK
    OS: freezes

    #7 (little fed up ;-)
    Settings #5
changed everything back to auto/normal (except usb legancy)

    Boot: ok
    OS:Ok
    The only failsafe setting yet.

I'm starting to worry, that my mainboard is 'falling apart'?

Turn OFF Turbo and see how things are. You are just testing if slot 3 is bad right? That many tests should not be needed really. I think your results have been affected by CIA2 Turbo. Sounds like you may have some bad slots on your board, if not just the one

You Should for sure have performance enhance, it should be RIGHT under CIA2

And what do you mean here? All of them or just that one? If all of them, then you are not on the correct page, they are on the Advanced BIOS page >>>

Limit CPUID Max. to 3.....................: [Disabled] Don't have these functions?
    No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
    CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Disabled]
    C2/C2E State Support....................: [Disabled]
    x C4/C4E State Support..................: [Disabled]
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) ...........: [Enabled]
    CPU EIST Function.........................: [Disabled]
Virtualization Technology................: [Disabled] Enabled if you use Vmware/Virtual PC
Hey, I think I see your issue now that I looked again! Command Rate! Should be for sure 2, and you for sure need to set performance enhance to standard. If you do not have that what BIOS are you using? It should be in all of them anyway, but thought I better ask

Thanks again for the advice, I'll try the changes and look better fot the other Bios options.

I'm not able to respond for more then 1 week, going on a holiday to Dublin..
Right after that I'll post my (new) findings.
