    Talking GA-X48-DQ6 Memory Problems

Hi there I have just built my New computer as you can see in my sig and for the life of me cannot get the Memory to work in Dual channel I cannot use the first two Dimms with any of the sticks but they work both in slots 3 and 4 I know this seems to be a problem with Gigabyte boards reading other posts here and at other forums and I know that I have tried Memtest with both sticks in slots 3 and 4 individualy and vice versa and there have been no errors but if you put them into slots one and two you get the dreaded restart loop so you can't run memtest or go into Bios I can have both sticks in side by side in slots 3 and 4 but they are dual channel memory and it would be nice if they ran that way any suggestions on what may be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated

    cheers

Dual Channel is Slots 1 + 3 or 2 + 4 If you know that, then ignore me! Just wasnt sure because of how you worded things there.

And 2x2gb needs several changes in the BIOS. So put in one stick in slot one and then make some changes. Set Performance Enhance to Standard, set trfc to 68 for now, Manually set your ram speed and voltage and set MCH voltage to about 1.26 for now and save and shut down, then put in your second stick in the correct slot and reboot. You should then be able to get in the BIOS so you can get started on your other changes

Here would be optimal ranges for your setup at stock >>>>

Hi Lsdmeasap thanks for lending me a hand yep your right I do know that 1+3 and 2+4 slots are dual channel thing is should I set those parameters that you have given me now while it will post now with the sticks in slots 3+4 first turn off and then put the memory sticks in slots 1or2 because if I do put the memory stick in the first slot or second slot first you get the dreaded memory loop and it wont boot into bios or post again thanks man for your help really appreciate your time and expertise.

Hi there I have applied the settings you gave me and they seem to have worked the only problem I had was when I applied the system overvoltage control to manual it would start up go through too the windows loading screen freeze and cut out I left that to auto and everything seems fine even though Vista shows only 2gig ram installed I am running the memory in slot 2+4 and it goes like a rocket ship will try 1+3 slots later and will tell you how I got on but everything is fine for now arre there any settings you want me to change or test?

Thanks again for the help aye you guys are a credit to IT Techies everywhere!!

Hi there thought I would update!! My computer is running fine so far very fast as it should be but under further investigtion it seems my computer is running 2gigs and not 4gigs the second and first slots are still not working the memory slots 3 and 4 are working perfectly but if you put the ram in dual channel config 1+3 or 2+4 the sticks in the 3 and 4 slots are the only ones working I mean the comp is great now just running 1 stick but no idea why it wont run in duel channel

I suppose I'm being fussy but it would be great to know why slots 1 and 2 are not working or if the slots are damaged in some way?

Sounds like you may have damaged slots 1+2. Can you run only one stick in either of those slots?

No it shows nothing and yet the performance of the comp is quite excellent I actually thought it would do the loop restart thing but it just starts as normal and everything goes don't really know whats going on other than the first two slots must be damaged or ?????
