    I am currently going for 4GHz aswell by doing 8x500 just like you.
    Looks like its getting more stable and only needs minor tweaks since my last crash on Orthos was after 2 hours runnings.
    IMO you can safely set your Vcore higher than 1.3625 in the BIOS since these boards seem to have quitte a high Vdroop.

    I have currently got 1.38750v set, this reads 1.344v idle and 1.312v load @ cpuZ (still testing for stability! crash just before 2 hours @ Orthos since 1.3625v set).
    Figured out that it needs 1.34v VTT and 1.3v Northbridge voltage here.
    Just stock 1.5v PLL

    I can also advice you to run Memtest first for like ~20 passes.
    If it does without errors, that will most likely ensure you the RAM isnt the bugger.

    Beware of VTT - it's a lurking time bomb... "High VTT sends our best QX9650 to an early grave."

    1.5 is WAY to much Vtt for a 45NM CPU, I suggest you try 1.34-1.38. Set it manually auto uses 1.5-1.6 or more which of course is too much.

    If you find 1.34-.38 wont work then you have something else to high, or to low? I'd have to see your full settings again to even begin to think about what that would be though

    My ram runs @ stock speed, so that can't be the problem i suppose.....

    It is true!
    1.5 VTT is way to much for 24/7.
    Better safe than sorry.... for sure keep it under 1.4 for 24/7 use.

    1.34v - 1.36v should do the trick for 500fsb i guess (i need 1.34v).
    Maybe your MCH voltage needs a little extra (try +0,02v), meaning your much to high cpuVTT is currently compensating this beeing to low at the moment.

    I can't get 500fsb stable with less than 1.3v on MCH aswell (currently have 1.3v set... 1.28v crashes Orthos within minutes here).
    Ofcourse 9x445 or will result in a similair cpu clock as 8x500, it will be less stressfull for the board so it will probably run with less volts on the VTT and MCH.

    With 445 fsb (890mhz ram) you will probably achieve better timings for the ram aswell.
    Thats just a case of which u prefer.

    I prefer 500 FSB (ram at rated speed here, that plays a role) with looser timings.
    My opinion also goes higher FSB > tighter timings @ the C2D's, but ofcourse thats just my 2 cents...

    EDIT: First of all, be very very sure the RAM isnt the bugger!
    perhaps start with a looser tRD.

    is ram influenced by Termination voltage?

    Edit:
    Tried lowering Ram frequency to way below SPD and more Vcore (1.4v) but it didn't even let me boot windows with 1.4 termination.
    I put back settings like described above with 1.54 Termination (0.02 less), i'm in windows now (duh) hoping it's stable.

    Just because you could not boot with lower Vtt means simply you have other settings incorrect.

    I for sure can tell you now you need to put performance enhance on standard since you are setting your own settings/voltages.

    Stock speed, does not always mean stock settings will work, or are best. Which the generally are not. Auto is often wrong and generally aside from that the worst performer. Your use of Turbo Performance enhance, and a XMP profile enabled and you changing settings is for sure alot of your issues with Vtt and other things not booting for you.

    ^^ If you are not seeing this, are you using the latest BIOS? If so, when you flashed you did load and apply/save/reboot right? If not you must do so. If you did and you are not seeing that (Which you should for sure) try the hotkey. On the MAIN page of the BIOS press Control + F1 the screen will flash, then go into MIT and see if you see this.

    Thanks for your reply.

    With the above settings i get @ 9x450 (4.05ghz) with memory @ 1200mhz (2.66x) with 1.44 Termination minimum (and still not 100% stable).
    No matter if I:
    Lower Proc multiplier (tried 8.5 & 8)
    Lower mem multiplier (tried 2.4 & 2)
    Change memory settings (tried allmost all combinations stated in your post)
    Give more vcore (tried every step to 1.4)
    The only thing that gives me more stability is raising the termination.
    Can it be that i damaged my processor and because of that it needs some more termination voltage now?

    Some questions:
    What does "If you use this you can run 544-12 likely" mean?
    If i got 520 fsb stable, why should i get as 'low' as 450? isn't a higher fsb with a lower multiplier much faster @ same proc speed?
    Why CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)..............: [Enabled] << Disabled, it worked fine @ 500 fsb and it saves me some watts and lowers my temp if i don't need speed, like when i'm surfing the net etc?
    Which things exactly depend on the termination voltage? is it the fsb, the proc max frequency or both?

    Aren't the steps of overclocking:
    find max fsb (lower proc & mem multi and raise fsb, raise NB voltage if needed/wanted)
    find max proc frequency (lower mem multi raise proc multi to max & raise fsb, raise vcore if needed/wanted)
    find max mem frequency (lower proc multi, raise mem multi to max & raise fsb, raise mem voltage if needed/wanted)
    And then find a combination which brings these three closest to max, then do -10% for every day use.
    I've been doing that for years now and to full satisfaction.
    Thats why i dont understand what and why i'm doing now...
