    Wahooo!

    Just wanted to shout out my thanks for the wonderfull, stable board they put on the market with the ep45 ds4!
    My e8400 is running stable @ 4Ghz (500x8) with just 1.325 volt (on load, with cpuz, 1.3625 in bios), never reaches 60C!
    Ok, Antec helps with the Nine hundred and intel is in for a thanks too but really, this board rocks!
    Now i'm not new to overclocking but most of the "advanced" settings i don't really understand, so just left them at "auto" and it works fine.
    I even got it to boot into windows with 533x8.5 but it wasn't really stable and the temps went up like a nuke, even with 4x 12cm and 1x 25cm fan at full speed (havent seen my son since, think he got sucked in )
    But for an every day overclock i'm really pleased wit 4 Ghz (memory @1200Mhz) i even let the CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) enabled :D

    Now i've read a lot of posts on this forum with people asking help to reach 3.3Ghz with a comparible configuration, i say, try to reach some more!
    My 3dmark06 score went from 11000 to 19000 with this overclock!

    I'll be glad to help people by sharing my experience and settings so they can be as happy as me ;)

    @lsdmeasap, do you know an internet adress where i can find a clear explanation of the memory timings settings, i meen the advanced ones, i tried with trial and error and cant get lower than 5/5/5/15 but i really would like to know if in the advanced setting i can get some more gain in performance.
    a few % is all i need to get passed the magic 20000 3dmark06 points but i dont know where to get them.
    Of course i can just give some more volts on my e8400 to reach them but 1.325 is what intel gives as max, i believe, so i dont want to pass that for every day use.

    Good to see you didnt encounter any problems going to 4GHz.
    Typically to see you have exact the same CPU / MoBo / Case as I have :)

    As you say; you have many settings left on auto.
    I can strongly dissuade you to keep auto for the cpuPLL and cpuVTT voltage...

    "LDSMEASAP" probably already meantioned this earlier.

    About the RAM timings, in my opinion most advanced timings dont make much of a difference with the Intel cpu's of this moment. On my AMD Athlon i gained lots by fine-tweaking these. The only advanced timings that show me real gains on my current Core2Duo setup are tRFC and tRD.
    I will show some benchmarks one of these days related to that.

    How Can i find the voltage results of the auto settings?
    The topic about fried procs has scared the hell out of me!
    I'm running F9 Bios am i still at risk?
    I fiddled around a bit with CPU Termination and CPU PLL but i cant get it stable....

    If you set all that memory timings yourself (With Perf. Enh. on standard) you will get much better results and scores.

    Check Auto voltages? Set thing to auto, and then look? HAHA Easytune will show you all voltages applied

    Fried CPU's? What topic

    PLL should be stock for 45NM CPU's and SHOULD BE manually set to that, auto overvolts it way to much

    Vtt should be manually set as well, Auto WAY Overvolts this especially at 4Ghz. For 4Ghz you will likely need 1.3-1.34 Vtt

    Here is what I would advise as optimal ranges for your above settings >>>>

    Ohh, yeah Now I know what Thread you meant. That's why Auto is never suggested for overclocking on most all settings

    Well, it's true that auto setting gives a very high voltage on CPU PLL, it was on 1.86 (installed easytune) and CPU Termination was on 1.6V.
    So i lowered it to 1.36 pll and 1.5 term but it wouldnt even boot like that.
    So i reset termination on auto and raised PLL one step at a time.
    I needed 1.52 to get into winblows without crash but it was buggy and unstable.
    I'm on 1.56 for both PLL and Termination and it seems to be stable now, i'll stress my system some more to be sure.
    0.3 volts lower is a lot, luckily i didn't fry my e8400!
    Current fastest system @ home:
    Gigabyte ep45 ds4, core2duo e8400, 2x 1024mb ocz pc2 9600, 2x ati 4850 xfire, 2x samsung spinpoint f1 640gb (raid0), ocz 650w modulair, antec nine hundred. (and some more tuning and cooling gadgets)

    1.5 PLL is stock (1.5-1.6) NOt much effect/help with 45Nm cpu overclocking so stock is fine

    1.2 is stock Vtt (1.2-1.45 MAX for short tests 1.4 MAX 24/7) << And I suggest 1.38 MAX for 24/7

    I think you reversed them in your thoughts you want 1.5 PLL and 1.34-1.36 Vtt

    Over 1.4 Vtt will kill your CPU >>>

    My last text was errored (bios order and ez tune order are inversed..)
    I give you a corrected one:

    Now it's correct.
    However, according to you my Termination is now way to high, does this mean that i'm actually frieing my e8400 for about 1 month now?
    And that it's impossible to reach 4ghz with it without killing it although ive been in windows with 533x8.5 with Vcore 1.4 and rest set to auto? (unstable)
    I'm confused now...
    Maybe an error in F9 bios that gives false readings?
    I'm not going to lower my clock, it's stable and doesn't heat up at all, i dont even have to put all my fans on @ full load to stay under 60C.
