    Default Best over-clock

Well after reading all the over-clocks with gigabyte motherboards I was able to get my E8500 cpu overclocked to 4.1 gigs thats on air with a zalman cooler. How much moore do you all think I can get with this cpu?

Hmm, nice! What are your load temps and what voltage are you using? That will be what decides if you can/should go further

Load temp is around 38c, at idle after a couple of hours 42c. Have gone as high as 58c after gaming several hours. I,am using 1.450 for cpu voltage in bios..

Looks good for both of you load temp-wise for sure!

takovr, how is your load temp (38) lower then idle of 42?

What temps do you get after 12-20 minutes of orthos?

Any Ideas to tweak it a little faster? I'd love to get it to 4.5+
I can get stable at 4.4 but the voltage gets a bit hairy @ 1.44v
using a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 cooler in antec Solo case, neo 550 psu.....Very quiet

Is that 1.44 Actual? What are the load temps at that voltage?

All I could say without seeing your full settings is maybe if you want more add more volts, but I would not even be using that 4.4 24/7 if that is actual voltages. maybe only to bench for a few would be ok

I'm currently breaking in a one day old build at 3.8ghz with my E8500.

Is it odd to have one core 6C higher than the other @ idle? Under load they are the same temp. Using CoreTemp and CPU HWMonitor to monitor temps.

    Idle:
    Core 0= 36C
    Core 1= 42C

Load> Orthos at the 25 minute mark:
    Core 0= 44C
    Core 1= 44C
