    Question EP45-UD3P cold boot issue

Lsdmeasap and others, could you look at this one?

New system build which works great once everything warms up.

If it sits for more than 2 hours after being turned off then system fails and reboots multiple times before successfully booting and starting windows. Failures during the first few minutes can occur during POST, in BIOS, during Windows load....tends to go further and further each time.

Have run Memtest both warm and cold with similar behavior. When warm, no errors. When cold, errors for first 60-90 seconds and then no more after that. What's my best move?

    System
    EP45-UD3P
    E8500 @3.16
    Corsair 2X2GB PC8500 @1066
BIOS settings as recommended in GA-EP45-UD3P not going to POST/BIOS setup

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not sure why you have started a new thread when you haven't replied to any of the suggestions on your last post? - nor have you supplied any more information, such as memory timings, multiplier used....

It would be preferable if you continued from your original post.

    Thanks Lsdmeasap,

I'll let the machine sit for a while and try to cold boot with new settings.

Regarding your comment on Memory Multiplier, there is no 3.20 for D....

Would the best place to start be CPU Clock Ratio 8, FSB 400, Memory Multiplier 2.66?

    Thanks. sskings

Ya, sorry about that. I meant you may need to use the D strap not 3.20D

If you do start with 400 FSB use 402

    Lsdmeasap,

Sorry to report no luck. Same behavior at all settings I've tried and/or you've recommended.

Runs perfectly with no errors after about 2 minutes of power to the system. When I get into Memtest86+ cold it puts up thousands (the record is 80,000) of errors in the first 60-90 seconds, gradually slows down error rate, and then stops completely. Runs for hours with no further errors. If I hit Esc to start sequence over, absolutely no errors. Same behavior for booting into windows instead of Memtest.

    Suggestions?
