Ya, sorry you dont have Vtt and or PLL. You do have MCH and FSB voltages right?

And yes, you may just not be setting enough vcore, since you are not even seeing the windows start to load you likely need more for sure. Once you see windows start to partially load then you know you are close

Well I was out most of yesterday evening, but did get time to try a little testing. I got the latest version of EasyTune, as EasyTune 5 is a PIA to use. EasyTune 6 is much easier, clearer, and I think may have more options available. Anyway, I dialed CPU multi back to x8 and mem to x2.0 to see if I could hit 500x8. 490 set OK and ran SuperPI 1M, but 500 froze the system. I then remembered reading a review somewhere that mentioned that most budget P35 boards seem to max out at a little over 480MHz FSB stable. So, I think I've got an approximate idea of the mobo FSB limit, rather than the mem. I think I had voltages set to vcore=1.3, vmem=2.2, vFSB=+0.1, vMCH=+0.1.

I also noted down all the memory timings from Everest and MemSet when running at my target 445x9 with memory at x2.4 by EasyTune. In the BIOS I manually set the main timings at 5-5-5-15, and left the advanced memory timings on AUTO. I'll try manually plugging these settings into the BIOS to see if I can get a successful OC from BIOS rather than EasyTune.

Yeah, I can set DDR, FSB and MCH voltages. After CTRL-F1 I can also set FSB DeOverVoltage and CPU GTLREF, whatever they are. I can't set PCIE volts at all.

I'll probably do more testing over the weekend, when I'll hopefully have time to explore stability too.

Stasio, cheers man, that's great. Where does it come from? Gigabyte, or a user mod, or what. I'm a bit cautious of installing code I'm not sure of.

@Lsdmeasap, just to be absolutely clear, as this is an important thing to get right, when you say in that other thread "most all 8x00 CPU's do 4Ghz at 1.25-1.32 or so" you are refering to the vcore shown by CPU-Z, not what I see in the BIOS screens, correct?

Also, if I do not have the option to set Vtt and PLL what implications does that have for me on my P35-S3G? Does that mean they are auto set/managed or are they hard set to something? Does this make big OCs more dangerous for me if I push vcore to, say, 1.36v?

I've had a busy time over the weekend and it looks like for this week, so I haven't been able to do any more testing yet. Cheers.

Yes, that is what I am referring to. BIOS Setting is not so relevant as actual shown by CPU-z

On P35 set FSB to +.1 or more (Not too much more) for 4Ghz, PLL you wont have a option to set as they are hard set

No, you will be fine pushing your vcore as long as you keep actual down and temps are good

I updated the BIOS to F5b and tried some more testing with no success Same symptons - after increasing FSB above 337 it tries the new settings, gets as far as the memory count and then resets back to default. I've tried a whole bunch of different settings. Last I tried was:
    Robust Graphics Booster _____ Auto
    CPU Multi _____ 9
    CPU Host MHz _____ 367
BIOS reported CPU GHz _____ 3.30
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) _____ 100
    Perf Enhance _____ Std
    Mem multi _____ 2.4
    Mem MHz _____ 881
    Mem Timing _____ Man
    CAS Latency _____ 5
    DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay _____ 5
    DRAM RAS# Precharge Delay _____ 5
    Precharge delay (tRAS) _____ 15
    ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD) _____ 3
Write to READ Delay _____ 5
    Write to Pre-charge Delay _____ 14
Refresh to ACT Delay _____ 42
Read to Precharge Delay _____ 5
    Static tRead Value _____ 11
Static tRead Phase Adjust _____ Auto
    System Voltage Control _____ Man
    DDR2 OverVolts _____ +0.2
    FSB OverVolts _____ +0.1
    FSB DeOverVolts _____ Norm
    (G)MCH OverVolts _____ +0.2
    CPU GTLREF Volts _____ 0.636
    CPU Volts _____ 1.42500
Limit CPUID Max to 3 _____ Dis
    No-Execute Memory Protect _____ Ena
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) _____ Dis
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) _____ Ena
    CPU EIST Function _____ Dis
    Virtualization Technology _____ Dis
Legacy USB Storage Detect _____ Dis

For vcore I've tried every 0.025v interval from 1.3v to 1.425.
    I've tried vDDR2 +0.4 and vMCH +0.1.
The memory timings were copied from Everst and MemSet when running 445x9 from EasyTune.

I really don't know where to go from here, except try a different mobo. Any ideas anyone?

    Is this your ram? >>>
    Newegg.com - GeIL Black Dragon 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

If so you need to try 2.2-2.4V, and I have seen similar issues with this ram (6400 type though) here on these boards. So before you think about buying a new board please do try to borrow or have someone bring over some other ram so you can see if this is the issue or not

    Try this

    Robust Graphics Booster _____ Auto
    CPU Multi _____ 9
    CPU Host MHz _____ 367
BIOS reported CPU GHz _____ 3.30
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) _____ 100
    Perf Enhance _____ Std
    Mem multi _____ 2.40
    Mem MHz _____ 881
    Mem Timing _____ Man
    CAS Latency _____ 5
    DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay _____ 4/5
    DRAM RAS# Precharge Delay _____4/5
    Precharge delay (tRAS) _____ 15
    ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD) _____ 3-4
Write to READ Delay _____ 6
    Write to Pre-charge Delay _____ 8
Refresh to ACT Delay _____ 48
Read to Precharge Delay _____ 4
    Static tRead Value _____ 10
Static tRead Phase Adjust _____ Auto
    System Voltage Control _____ Man
    DDR2 OverVolts _____ +0.3-+0.6
    FSB OverVolts _____ +0.1
    FSB DeOverVolts _____ Norm
    (G)MCH OverVolts _____ +0.1
    CPU GTLREF Volts _____ Auto
CPU Volts _____ 1.42500 << You for sure should not need this much at all, and could cause issues. Maybe 1.225-1.28 actual for 3.3, maybe even stock depending on your CPU

Ya, could be the budget board I suppose? But please do try to test some other ram if you can as that ram may need the high warranted voltages and that could be a issue with the board possibly

Yeah, that looks like my RAM - being in the UK, I didn't get them from NewEgg, but here:
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...odid=MY-067-GL

Unfortunately, P35-S3G only does +0.4 max for DDR2 OverVolts. First thing I checked after BIOS upgrade was if this was increased, but no such luck :( Remember it did 1094MHz @ 2.2v using EasyTune, so I would not expect a problem with 881MHz @ 2.0v or 2.2v OC from BIOS, but something is not happy.

Don't think I know anyone with DDR2 RAM, so not much chance of swap/testing that, but I'll check around and see. In fact the one guy I can think of has just moved to Hong Kong.

I'll try those settings and some more testing when I get some time, thanx. I'm very dissappointed with this mobo so far; I realise it's a budget mobo and I wouldn't hit the maximum OC the CPU and memory could handle, but I expect to get +10% pretty easy (probably on auto settings), and at least +21% with not too much effort - beyond that I considered bonus, with +33% (4GHz) my ultimate target. I can't get this thing to POST at +2%! My old P4C Northwood / Asus P4C800 went to +21% with everything on AUTO.

I don't desparately need the OC for now, so I'll stick with it till at least after Xmas, but then might ebay it and get an EP45-UD3R - sound a good choice? Has fewer PCI slots, but should manage.
