Ya, but that test with eaytune may not have been stable enough at all to boot the system

But ya you are right at 880 it should not need so much for sure

P35 board would be a much easier overclock for cheaper, but yes that P45-UD3R is a GREAT BOARD!!! You will have much more to learn and mess with though

So the above settings would not work for you? Try 555-18

Well I haven't had much time to test further, but so far no more success with OCing in BIOS. Had a little time tonight and tried some more experiments with EasyTune. I got the CPU to 482x9=4.34GHz @ 1.412v, mem 482x2=964MHz @ 2.2v. Super PI 1M ran in 10.984s. Everest mem read is 8421 MB/s. OCCT stable for 10 mins of full load. Max core temp 61C. Vcore reported in Windows utils 1.39v max, 1.36v min.

Given it can do this in EasyTune, it looks weird that I can't even POST a significantly less OC from BIOS!? It really feels like the BIOS is refusing to try to boot setting that would work fine. I'm guessing that because this is an entry level board that the BIOS is very OC unfriendly.
    Intel E8400 E0 3GHz @ 4.0GHz (444x9) stable (provisionally), max 4.4GHz (489x9), Zalman CNPS 9700 (core temp 46c @ max load @ 4.0GHz),
    Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G F5b BIOS + 40mm fan on MCH, Geil Black Dragon DDR2-PC8500C5 (2x1GB) @ 1066MHz (444x2.4)
Sapphire ATI HD 4850 Dual Slot Cooler (64c @ max load), Dell 3007WFP 30" (2560x1600)
    Seagate 500GB SATA2 7200rpm 32MB cache, Samsung 500GB SATA2 7200rpm 16MB cache, LG GH22LP20 22x DVD+/-RW
Corsair TX 650W, Antec Three Hundred + 2x120mm front fans, WinXP SP3 Home
