Thread: Instaling Ga-EP35-D3SL and e5200

    Default Instaling Ga-EP35-D3SL and e5200

So I finally began my install yesterday thanks to a friend who provided me with some AS5 and ArtiClean 1.

So I cleaned the base of my Big Typhoon with the Articlean and installed the processor. Applied some AS5 down the middle and strapped on the heatsink.

    http://nov25.imghost.us/7ygz.jpg

I then proceeded to test my setup outside the case. So I added one stick of RAM and my video card. Things booted well and CPU temps were a cool 24 degrees.

    http://nov25.imghost.us/co3O.jpg

Now, time to mount everything into the case. This I did but with some difficulty with my exhaust fan. It was a tight squeeze. A bit too tight. You'll understand as you continue to read.

    http://nov25.imghost.us/hmgy.jpg

( Please no cabling jokes, I will deal with them, just need some tie wraps )

As you can see the exhaust and CPU fan are practically touching each other. That they were! It was so tight that the heatsink could not go on properly and when forced in, temps on CPU hit 59+ degrees celcius.

This was a no no. So I reinstalled the heatsink, but this time without the exhaust fan... Yes. That's what I said, no exhaust fan. Temps on CPU went back down to 24 degrees.

Determined to have an exhaust fan, after alot of contemplating, I decided to install the exhaust fan .. ( you ready for ths? ) on the outside of the case. Yes.. The OUTSIDE.

Sure, it may not be as effective but it will still move air. I had no other choice. Suggestions for this matter can be posted.

After getting everything up, the Vista installation began and something was slowing it down considerably. I'm talking about 10minutes to switch to another screen. Disabled some settings in the BIOS and it was back to normal...

So now it's time for the fun part! You ready LSD?! We've been waiting more than a amonth for this. LOL

    So what first?

You were obviously tilting the HSF in relation to the CPU core as you wrestled with it into your case - hence the temperatures - lucky it's a spring pressure mount.

Case fan is fine on the outside. You could always screw a fan grill on if you wished, although the side exposed is the most protected, so you could probably get away with that. Just make sure your wires don't catch on a sharp bit of metalwork, or foul the fan blades as they enter the case.

Wow. This Bios has sooo many more features than my P5ND2-SLI. I'm confused and feeling VERY nooby. I don't even know where to start.. What to disable.. What to enable.. What to.. What's that setting do!? AHHHH

    :(

    Help :(

Got a little free time at work here so I'm currently reading through the manual. Hopefully that will help me.

Tried to get it up to 3.12ghz.. Was going fine from 2.5 to 3 but at 250 fsb it won't boot.

Umm.. I wasn't seeing half of the things you put there and I thought that would leave memory on auto and take it one at a time. CPU and them memory.

Or do I need to set my memory timings and what not first?

Ok. So i've figured out why it won't overclock. The bios is not holding the voltages.

So I used Qflash and flashed to F6A ( Saw a thread where a user said this fixed his problem) then I loaded optimized defaults and reconfigured everything.

Changing only the CPU voltage to 1.3, when I load windows, CPU-Z says my voltage is 1.26 and easy tune says it's 1.28.. huh?! :S

    What now? =/

    Update..

So I just tried 333x9.. That didn't work.. I tried 333x9 with +.1 fsb and northbridge voltage increase.. That also did not work.

    I'm at a loss now.

    Thanks in advance.

More volts for sure! That drop is called vdrop, it is by design. What you set in the BIOS will be less in windows at idle, this is vdrop (Voffset) and what you get from idle to load is called vdroop

This is so that your CPU does not die from a voltage spike. You just have to add more in the BIOS to compensate

Set whatever will get you 1.325-1.34 actual, and set Vtt to 1.34 and see how far you can push the FSB that way, you will be fine like that. Then once you find what you want you can try to lower voltages

If you would like, let me know what you think you may want to run your CPU at and I will post you a few ways to do so (Different CPU/Memory Multi's). And please link me to your ram you are using now as I forgot, and how much of it you have. Thanks and good luck with this advise until we meet again

    Put Performance enhance on STANDARD

lol wrong template. my bad :(

    I was thinking of running my cpu at around 3.8GHZ - 4GHZ with my ram @ 667mhz @ 3-3-3-10

    Is that possible?
