    Default GA-EP45-DS3R & Q9650 Overclock

    I currently have my chip overclocked to 4.0 GHz with a FSB of 445. Normal everyday stuff and games are fine, but if I run Prime 95 or OCCT, they will eventually fail. The only changes I have made from default settings in the bios are these:

    CAS Latency Time: 5
    tRCD: 5
    tRP': 5
    tRAS: 15

    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz): 100
    MCH Clock Skew: 50
    VCORE: 1.35
    MCH Core: 1.4
    DRAM Voltage: 2.1 (Manufacturer recommends this)

    Is there something else I should be changing? Or should I not worry about it? I keep hearing that the system should be "prime stable" and all that, so I don't know if it is a big deal.

    give us full spect of your bios ... will able to see better ... up your CPU termination to about 1.3- 1.4 (1.34 is about right) .. just a quick guess since you have everything on auto.

    OUCH!

    Please find and set your own Vtt (termination) RIGHT NOW!!! Auto WAY Overvolts this when overclocking (Like to 1.8+ sometimes and 1.45+ will kill your CPU VERY FAST), same applies with PLL

    Please post your full specs, a link to your ram and how much you have, and fill this in with what you are using and I will advise back

    Run your memory loose at first and see what your CPU will do first. 4ghz is impressive, but you really don't know at this point what is holding you back.

    Set your memory multiplier to 2.00D and run it at DDR-800 for now. Crank that CPU up and do some benching till it fails. Then back off the CPU a touch and tweak the memory in. Your CPU may do 4.2ghz with your memory loosened up. If you try to tighten the memory up then you may only get 4.0ghz out of it.

    Step the core to 1.38125v and try again w/ the memory at DDR800, 5-5-5-15.

    My CPU will do 4.275ghz w/ loose timings, but I want 4-4-4-12 timings on my memory and I'm trying to find the sweet spot now. I'm 8 hrs. P95 stable at 422fsb right now. I'd like to hit 435fsb w/ tight timings, but it will take days to get it there. It doesn't happen overnight.
