    Default q9550 c1 overclock on ga-ep45-ds4p

    Hi all,
    great forum, used the sticky on overclocking to get my first ever overclock of my system from 2.83 => 3.4 stable. Was very happy with this but I would like maybe a little more out of my system, maybe 3.8 and was hoping for some assistance.

    I'm running vista home premium 32bit and 2 x 2GB of Corsair Ram 800mhz with 5-5-5-18 (factory spec).

    I seem to be lucky and running a relatively low Vcore 1.20625 for my 3.4GHz overclock but when I bump up my FSB to 450 i can't seem to get any stability. Can sometimes post but fails loading vista.

    I've posted my stable 3.4 results and hopefully someone can help me get a little more from my system.

    Just one more thing to note, the CPU is watercooled and the NB has a little 40mm fan running on it.

    3.8 ...
    vcore = ?? that is up to CPU ... i set mine to 1.350 now and tweaking to get lower ( one of my other q9550 i had to use 1.4125 for 3.82)

    CPU Termination = 1.28-1.30
    MCH Core = 1.26 - 1.30
    ICH I/O = 1.59
    ICH Core = 1.200

    you can start with this setting and should get you to window stable ... and slowly tweaking lowering the voltage

    1 thing ... in my ram ... i ad to use 9 for Static tRead Value ( i use lower they keep fail when i get into window)

    look like you have a good chip there ... good luck ..

    BTW .. what is your VID voltage ? 1.200 ???

    heya godto, thanks for the suggestions. approx 4 hours ago i changed the FSB to 425, upped my Vcore to 1.2375, MCH Core to 1.24 and upped my DRAM voltage to 1.82. All other settings as per my original post.

    Have been running OCCT for 3 hours without an error at 3.612GHz :) will be running Prime95 later and leave it on overnight to check for stability before trying some of your setting above. Thanks again and I'll post my results later :)

    ya a bit more help would be cool plz.
    The system seems very stable at 3.612GHz and the hottest core was at 61C, others around 57C (Also done in a room with an ambient temp of around 26C, aircon's getting serviced)

    If i want to try to push up to 3.8 what should I tweak now? posted below are my stable 3.612 figures.

    that run little hot for 1.2375 vcore .... the hottest should be around 55 or less ... i run 1.3375 and only get to 58 and that is on intell or linx .. prime95 only 46 . check your cpu cooler ... but again ... i use antec1200 and they have lot of air

    yup, it's a tad warm but remember my room temp is also kinda warm too, today its 30+C outside and not much cooler in my room either :( thinking around 27C

    I've reseated the heatsink 2 times now and re-applied the Arctic Silver 5 paste as per the site for a quad core, just a hot chip i guess, it's under water anyways so temps don't seem to be getting much higher anyway.

    Prime is less than 58C but OCCT heats up the cores a bit more on my system, somehow gets it up a couple more degrees, as long as I can keep the cores under 64C on the hottest days here then i'll be happy.

    no ;) using an apogee waterblock with watercooling and a 3 120mm fans cooling an external radiator.
    I think with these temps on a standard cooler, i would be minus 1 q9550

    What Rad and fans are you using for your water?

    Try this for 3.8, but your ram may not do 900 to stable as it was default 555-18 already at 800 >>>
