Question new pc, bluescreen while installing OS -GA-MA770-DS3/s3

    hi,
first of all, thanks for welcoming me at this fine forum.

but actually im only here because ive got a problem.
today i bought a new pc.

    (new)
    CPU: AMD x4 9650
    VGA: xfx geforce 9800GTX
    RAM: 2 gig OCZ
    mobo: GA-MA770-DS3
    power: cooler master 520 watt

    (already owned)
DVD drive: NEC - (IDE, the one with all the metal pins, with a wide cable to put in. i think its called IDE) <-- worked on my former PC.
    HARDDISKS:
-lend one sata from a friend (because of this problem, but this didnt fix it)
-one IDE harddisk (same connectors as my dvd drive).

    PROBLEM EXPLANATION:
ive set up my setting, everything connected.
tried to install windows Vista (64 bit) but got blue screen when 'expanding files'began.
tried couple of times more. but blue screen or system error at the beginning.

    all on my IDE harddisk.

then dismounted my harddisk, put in a sata disk.
    still same problem.

didn't update my BIOS setup, since that is the last thing i want to do.
so i cant get into any OS!

-i missed the search function in the forum. so if anyone can point me to a post with the solution it would be also very nice.
and my sincere appoligies for not seeing that post by myself...

(and last, and also hopefully least; excuse me for my english since its not my first language).

hope i find some help, thanks in advance

i had same problem before also but it was my ram. I was trying to install with 4 gigs but thats not the problem here. try taking out one stick of ram and installing Vista. Check the cd for dirt or scratches which u probably already did. If possible try to get that blue screen error message numbers that will help more.

Thumbs up Re: new pc, bluescreen while installing OS -GA-MA770-DS3/s3

Sorry for not saying much but you will need to provide a little more info. Also try someone else ram if you can or run mem test.

okay, sorry for the little info.

but the ram i bought was a new module. and only 1 module. 2 gig.
the cd is not the problem i think, because i burned it from a working .iso. and after the first crash i burned is once more. so i tried installing it with 2 different cd's after that.

    and the bluescreen depends.
ive had one where they said the kernel was missing or corrupt.
    (0xc00000098, if i remember well).

and also a problem with ntfs.sys.
    (0x00000024)

and also sometimes not a bluescreen. but before the instalation an error in the blackscreen where the computer should get started from cd.
    like BTMNGR.exe is missing.

i dont have any other ram modules nearby.
now it is a new: D2 2GB 800-444 XTC Tita OCZ

oh, and also one time i came to the memory check screen.
but it checked my harddrive and found no corruption or failures.

hope this helps a bit more...

What error # or Code is on this Blue Screen, try to see it as it may matter

Can you test your ram in another system? If so, please do with this, one stick at a time >>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

You do have 2x1GB right? If so, can you post me a link to it or the model # on the sticker?

*EDIT* Sorry I posted at the same time as you it seems

Can you go in the BIOS and on the MAIN Page hit F9 and tell me what BIOS version you are using now

That Black screen error is normal if you do not have a System installed

What settings are you using for your SATA Settings on the integrated peripherals page and what port do you have your SATA Drive connected to

And since you are burning these DVD's are you burning them on the slowest setting? If not that could be your issue as well OS Should ALWAYS Be burnt as slow as the drive will do it

One thing you should for sure try first is retry the install and delete your partition and then recreate it and try the install again

windows is now loading again. so i can capture the errorcode. so that will come up in a couple of minutes.
    (actually i hope not ;) )

i cant test my ram module in any other system for now. (ddr2) but maybe in a friend system, later on today.

i have only one of 2 gb!
    not 2x1gb.

i only planted one stick of 2gb. with the plan when my money is up again next month to buy the next stick. but for this month i was planning to drive on just one stick of 2gb.

I found this, and for vista it seems this is a "Cannot see drive" issue >>>
Troubleshooting Stop error messages that may occur when you try to install Windows Vista

So you either need to load a driver or Change your Integrated peripherals Settings maybe

So you know, your CPU is only supported but BIOS F4 and above

    okay the full bluescreen:

a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps:

disable or unstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. check your hard drive configuration, and dheck for any updated drivers. run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

    technical information:
    *** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00000000001904ag, 0xfffff98009684328,0xfffff98009683d00,0xfffff98001 11d8e2)

    *** ntfs.sys - address FFFFF9800111d8e2 base at FFFFF9800108a000, Datestamp 4549b40c

    hope this helps...
