    Default GA-EP45-UD3P and 8GB(4x2GB) RAM troubles

    Hello,

    I am having problems getting 8GB of RAM in 4 sticks of 2GB to work properly with my EP45-UD3P. Here are my specs:

    GA-EP45-UD3P BIOS F7a
    Q6600
    4 x 2GB (OCZ2F8004GK)
    Nvidia 9800GT

    If I use 2 sticks at a time (4GB), everything is fine, but once I put all 4 sticks in, I get errors in Memtest86+ 2.10 in tests 5, 7 and sometimes 6 (though not as often). The "Err-Bits" field is always "00004000" or "00040000" and the failing address is around 5700MB, 8500-8800MB, or 1600-1900MB.

    I understand that I need to tweak the settings in the BIOS to get 4 sticks to run stable, but I would appreciate some guidance. I have already tried some things suggested in this forum that I found through a search.

    Try lowering your voltage back to spec. I have that OCZ ram @ 8GB and mine is stable at....

    5-4-4-18 @ T2 with tRFC=54 @ 1.8v

    Howdo,

    I have 8gigs of cheap C5 corsair ram at 5-5-5-18.. am still testing but its gone thru 5 intelburn tests with Dram Voltage at 1.820. What could be giving you errors is the voltage on the CPU - My 6600 isnt stable bellow 1.34375 and gives me errors under heavy load. Just for reference my MCH Core is happy at 1.18 aswell.

    Also, Im on the UD3R.

    Im not sure if this info is any help... just wanted to chip in :)

    You are using a newer Memtest86+ right? Older ones will error on P35/45 boards, should be 2.01 or above.... Just checking to be sure

    Ya, those timings are loose enough for sure so they are not the issue. Try less MCH and Ram volts as suggested << THANKS Guys!!!

    Thanks to everyone for the replies. I have tried your suggestions, but am still not having any luck. I am using Memtest86+ 2.10. Is it possible that the MB is defective? Could you please post your BIOS settings if you have the chance, arjo_reich? Thanks again for everyone's help. I would appreciate any suggestions, if anyone has any more.

    What exactly are you setting in the BIOS? Please post and maybe I can advise further. Also, how is it not working? BSOD or System Beeps and board power cycles, or Almost loads the OS or what?

    I'm still getting Memtest86+ errors, BSODs in Windows, and occasionally not fully booting into Windows (system reboots while Windows is loading).

    Hmm think this one might be stetching me beyond what i know... Purly out of curiosity (as ive seen it mentioned on ere before) when you were doing (the successfull) mem tests on each pair individually, were u using the same slots?.. ie removing one pair and placing the other pair in the same slots? If this is the case and (Im not sure how probable it is) but you could have a defective memory slot.. ie one of the ones that wasnt used during testing.

    I know some others might have tips to short cut this.. but id be tempted to take it all back to stock speeds and try and get the ram stable there first.

    have you tried upping the dram voltage to 2.0 with the current settings for Vcore and MCH core... just a thought.

    Other than that mate im a bit stuck... LSD will probably have a magic answer lol :)
