    Default Q9550 OverClock-Compare Stats

Hello, i've been looking around this forum and over the web to compare my Q9550 overclock settings and temp readings. i have seen numbers all over the place. some results i've seen tell me my CPU is running hotter then it should and others about average??? if anyone else is interested in comparing your results please post your info: (thankyou in advance for your information)

    MoBo: [GA-X48-DS5]
    Cooler: [Zalman CNPS9700]
Case: [Antec 300, lots of 120mm fans running on low.]
    BIOS settings:
    -CPU Host Frequency: [444] = [3.775 GHz]
    -CPU Voltage: [1.33750]

Real Temp readings with TJ Max @ 100 [range of the four cores]:
    Idle Temp: [34-28c]
Max temp Running Linpack 10 runs: [66-60c]
    approximate room tempeture: [13c]
    Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion calculator

after running several tests i have found that RealTemp, CoreTemp, Everest Ultimate all over report my temps by 2 to 5 degrees when compared to what my bios reports. Real Temp seems to be the most inline with my bios reported temps.

i'm really intereested in seeing other peoples results and what they are using to air cool their Q9550. thanks again for any info added.

    SoopMurphy's is yummy!

    another thing about my temps:
half of my cpu runs consistantly hotter by 4 to 6 deg celcius then the other half.

two cores (0 & 1) always max temp at 66, while the other two cores (2 & 3) max temp at 60-61. is anyone else getting one half of there CPU running 4 to 6 degrees hotter then the other half???

i'm thinking my arc silver 5 is not covering the one side of the CPU enough. but before i tear eveything apart to regrease it i'd like to see if anyone else has this happening.

2 of my cores run hotter than the other 2 by about 3 degrees according to coretemp Core Temp shows higher than EZ tune does by a couple degrees -EZ tune is lower than Core Temp.

Your BIOS and EasyTune report CPU temp, and not core temp. Keep that in mind.

And all 4 cores will never be the same temp, often one or more may be working harder then the others or the DTS is not in exactly the same place on the core.

Small fluctuations (3-10) between cores is normal

My temps are about the same. Under full load RealTemp is reporting 64-63-61-60. Have hit 67 on core 1. Core 1 is usually 4-5 degrees hotter than cores 3 and 4. Core 2 is usually 2-3 degrees hotter than cores 3 and 4. Idle temps are around 37. This is running at 3.8GHz (450 x 8.5). The HSF is OCZ Vendetta II but I used a generic thermal paste. I want to get some Tuniq TX-2 and reseat it. My CPU Vcore is set to 1.3875 in bios.

FYI Newegg shipping is down to $4 on Tuniq TX-2= $7.80 total

LSD, which one (core or cpu temp) is most relevent to q9550's??

SCTony, those are real good temps for a CPU voltage of 1.3875.
are those temps from full load under Prime 95 or a Linpack/coredamage test. my temps where much cooler under full load with prime95. i'm still rock solid with: 3.775 @ 1.33750volts so you should be able to lower your volts on the CPU.

Those temps were from Prime blend running in the background. I have tried all day to lower my Vcore to no avail. I am new to OC but I may be at a limit here. If reseating the HSF doesn't help, I may lower the FSB some.

You need only to worry about your core temps with all Core 2 CPU's

I use RealTemp and Everest to watch mine

thanks for the info LSD, makes sence:) core 2's and core temps!

SCTony, you really won't know what temp your proceesor will reach under HEAVY stress unless you try intel burn test or core damage. my max core temp through 10 passes of intel burn test was 66. prime is a good stability test but it doesn't push the heat factor like the others. it's fun trying to find your systems max performance, but you can also over do it...i have in the past on older builds..LOL!! but now that over clocking has 3X more options then it use to it's a lot more fun!
