Thread: Mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop

  1. #1

    Default Mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop

So my Mushkin Ram is coming in tmr.

The settings on my current DDR2 667 are as follows

    Performance Enhance = [Standard]

    CAS Latency Time________________ 4
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 4
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______ 4
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 12

    ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________4
    Rank Write to READ Delay________6
    Write to Precharge Delay________6
    Refresh to ACT Delay____________42
    Read to Precharge Delay_________6
    Static tRead Value______________10
    Static tRead Phase Adjust_______Auto

Will I need to change anything? Do I set everything to Auto then pop the new ram in then manually configure it?

How do I go about swapping the memory. Will it work with these current settings?

    Thanks in advance.

Just a recommendation ... I always get timing recos from Greg, the Mushkin tech over on the Mushkin support forum (under "Tech Issues"). He is always very fast to get back to you (almost always the same day). Just tell him the board and memory you have.

Just my luck... Greg chose to resign.. LOL

What Kit did you get, model # or link? Ya, sad to see Greg Go!!!

You will likely find it easiest no matter the kit you bought to remove your ram you are using now and startup with just one of your new sticks then set your voltages and then save and shut down and put in the other stick

As for timings, no those will not work. Mainly your trfc will need to be 48(52-62) as for the rest that all depends on which set you bought

So I put the RAM in. It's running @ 390mhz @ 4-4-4-12. The advanced timings are on auto as I don't know what to put there. I'm hoping LSD can assist.

I tried overclocking the chip to 4GHZ (400x10). The ram frequency jumped up to 400mhz as well but the PC will not boot..

It seems that this chip cannot go over 390fsb.. Or am I doing something wrong?

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance.

Just want to agree with everyone that it's a bummer that Greg left. Most responsive mfgr. tech I've ever seen.

Sorry Soldier! Here is some 400 FSB Settings for ya to work with >>>

    Code:
Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto or Fast]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [10]
    Fine Clock Ratio ____________[0.0]
    CPU Host Clock Control_ [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [401]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
    C.I.A. 2__________________________ [Disabled]
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [2.00]
DRAM Timing Selectable_______ SPD __ [Manual]

    Performance Enhance = [Standard]

    CAS Latency Time________________ 4
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 3/4
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______3/4
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 10/12

^^^ At only 800Mhz I find my set to be able to do 433-10 stable YMMV of course, but do test 433-10, 443-10, 444-10 and see how they work for you. When doing this be sure static tRead is not to low (Maybe use 7-8 while testing)

ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ 3
Rank Write to READ Delay________ 3-4
    Write to Precharge Delay_________ 3-6
    Refresh to ACT Delay______________ 46/48-52
    Read to Precharge Delay__________ 2-5
    Static tRead Value_______________5/6-10 << 6-7 likely best
Static tRead Phase Adjust________ [Auto] << Always Auto

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
    DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.2V - +0.3V]
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.1V]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V - +0.2V]
CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.25] << all up to your chip and board. Just set high enough you know you can boot then you can lower later

Limit CPUID Max. to 3.....................: [Disabled]
    No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
    CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Disabled]

I tried those settings but nada...

I even pushed voltage to 1.5 and dsb +mch volt to +.3 each... I don't know..

Maybe the cpu just reached its limit ... >_< ?

I'll continue tweaking the ram though.. sigh..

    thanks!
