Since you're using PC2-6400 than I think your memory timings should be 4-4-4-12 with 1.9 volts. 5-5-5-15 with 2.1 (or 2.0) volts is for PC2-8500.

I must admit that you're very persistent with getting this board to work. I would have either returned it for another one or RMA'ed. It's kind of troubling that you're having so much trouble with this board. Mine worked perfectly out of the box with the exception that it was using some very conservative memory timings when it was set for AUTO. I set the memory timings manually and the system has been running smooth every since. I have had it for about two weeks now.

yeah i have put the rma in process. But this is a crap time of the year for this and i just wanted to make sure that its not something that i could sort out so i can game in my holidays. Lol. I do think the board is stuffed though. It was mad how it switched off by itself now that's stopped and i didn't even do anything. But this sata issue is crazy. However it work for ages the other day but only on the purple. I have set the memory to 5 5 5 18 which is on the side of it. I just want to get it running stock before i oc it. I guess i will just wait till i get the new board unless anyone has any other idea's

my issue is that my hdd is turning off randomly during windows install, in windows while loading something, not at idle. I have tried all sata posts and different power supply's different ram different cables. The purple ga sata posts seem to work better but still do it in the end. Sometimes when i first turn the pc on it wont spin up all the way and is not detected. Plus when i have my sata dvd in it sometimes is detected at a different port. Bios settings and stock tried all different combinations oh setting in there. Also it does it to many different sata hdd's not just the one.

Please tell me what ports (Color and #) you have your disks connected to now, and what you have set in the integrated peripherals page for these settings >>>

    Integrated Peripherals

    SATA RAID/AHCI Mode (Intel ICH10R Southbridge) .............
SATA Port0-3 Native Mode ................................... Enabled (or Disabled, both will work)

    Onboard SATA/IDE Device (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) .............
Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) ...........

And so you know, you should use the Intel Controller and put your Hard drives into Port 0 and 1 if you have two and so on. And put your Dvd Drive into the last intel port, or on the other controller.

Do you have this disabled? If not, please disable it and see if the issue goes away >>>

    Integrated Peripherals
Legacy USB Storage Detect___________________[Disabled] *Note* Must be enabled to flash from USB[/code]
