No your not doing anything wrong but if your pc was unstable it would bsod or crash the program so if it is still running after 24 hours and you stop the program you have a stable pc.

I would suggest you use the D strap or you are going to have to spend a hour or so trying to find what MCH voltage will allow you to use 2.40B at 434 FSB, it could be way more or way less it is very tricky to get B Strap stable after 400 FSB

ok, I will check but I have got this B strap totally stable, I have run, Intel burn test, OCCT, MEMTEST 2.11, ORTHOS, not a single issue.
Are you saying, if this is stable, changing to D strap would not really gain me any perfromance?

Ahh, OK! Sorry I must have thought you was having issues on the B Strap is why I suggested that!

Yes, for sure stay on B if you have it stable it will perform much better and you can use a lower tRD then the D Strap.

The only thing about the D Strap is that it is easier to get stable with less voltages. So you may be able to use tighter timings and less voltages on it to make up for the need for a higher tRD. I just see many users often having issues on the B Strap after 400 FSB so I think maybe I assumed you was having that issue without reading back in the thread

But Overall B Strap would be best anyway!

Been Pushing on the B strap myself for some Crucial Testing I am doing.

    Right now I Finishing up some testing of 4x1GB 450 FSB W/ Ram at 1080Mhz 555-15 tRD 8 (2.40B) stable >>>

And while I was gone for the Holidays I got some testing done at other speeds as well, here is VERY Stable 450 FSB W/ Ram at 900Mhz 444-12 tRD 8 (2.00B) >>>

I will have my review of 2 Sets of the New 2.0V Crucial (2x2 & 4x1) sent me for testing up soon with timings and test shots at various speeds for users who may be having issues with Crucial

So B strap can for sure be done and stable, I just thought you had issues I think!

Great to hear you are not having issues, and good luck with your continued testing and tweaking!!!

    Thanks

Funny I should say no issues when on 1 pogram I am having issues, that is FSX loaded with traffic X and add-on aircraft.

    Vista 64 bit
FSX freezes after 1 hr approx at 4.12GHz (reset PC) 1 out of 1 time
FSX freezes after 2 hours approx stock speed (reset PC) 1 out of 1 time

    XP Home (dual boot)
FSX freezes within an hour at 4.12GHz (reset PC) 1 out of 1
FSX did not freeze after 2.5 hours at sttock speed.

There is no log of anything, or I don't know where to look.
FSX freezing is nothing new, the issue could be
    1. Overclocking related
    2. Wondering if I am better of using on-board sound and removing old creative sound balster card that I am using at the moment???
    3. FSX related

Any action plan you can suggest?
Oh, looks like FSX might be a better stablility tester than any of these simple but repeative programs, this is because FSX drains everything, maybe HDD is slow!! thinking out aloud.

What is this FSX? I will test it on my setup, could just be driver/FSX related?

sorry, its flight simulator X, this version does seem to run my CPU at 100% most of the time and I may have also stumbled on the solution.

It froze again at FSB 430 (I reduced it a bit just to be sure) but I noticed my internet security KIS has just started its update (auto) I set this to manual and ran FSX (flying) for 4+ hours and it did not freeze, the very first time ever!!! KIS behaves like the USA, I am the chief and no on else can access any resources while I start something, it does this hen it starts its update, not when it scans.

Its too early to be sure but I will have to fly more and see.
If this is the issue then all I can say is all the stress testers we have talked about is simply not as good as a very demanding game program like FSX.
It loads 100 of files all the time and I have set my anti-virus not to scan any thing within its folders as well.

I think stress testers are good, but if you don't have something like FSX (I have add-on software on top of it that adds 100's of other files to run) the best thing to do is do the stress test and then reduce overclock a few meg or 5% so you build it some control.

I found the reason why FSX was crashing in Vista 64, its becuase of windows update service, I switched it off totally and now no crash!!

So when running FSX if you have update services for anti-virus and windows running, when they startup or start polling they must be interfreeing enough with FSX reading files from meory of HDD enough to cause it to crash or freeze.

So, stress testers are good but none or all together even can 100% gurantee you will not have issues when playing a game that demands every bit of performance out of your system.
