Default PC with EP45-DS3L freezing, please help

    Hello everybody!

I have following configuration (bought 2 weeks ago):

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
    Gigabyte EP45-DS3L
    Gigabyte Radeon HD4850 512MB
    2 x 2GB DDR2 Kingmax 800MHz
    WD 640GB AAKS
    Antec Sonata III (500W)

Every time i start Vista 32 bit Ultimate, it freezes after few minutes, no matter if i do anything or not. When i pull out 1 stick of memory and use only 2GB, it takes little longer, but it freezes anyway. When I start a game with 2GB of memory, it also frezzes after few minutes. I tried moving 1 or both sticks of RAM through slots, no luck. I tried to change RAM (one 2GB stick or one 1GB stick, borrowed from a friend, they were all 800MHz Kingmax), HDD (Hitatchi 250GB) and graphic card (Radeon x850), and it still freezes. I tried also with Vista 64bit and Windows XP - same thing.
When I try to install Vista with 4GB of RAM, it freezes in the middle of the installation, when i try with 2GB, installations is successfull.

I tried to test memory with memtest86, and it frezzes in test 3 mostly, no matter if i use one or both sticks of RAM.
I noticed in everest 4.60 that my CPU voltage is 1.09V, is that too low?
Does anyone know what could be a problem?

Here are my bios settings (I have F7 BIOS):

Sounds like almost the exact same problem I am having. If I find a solution, I will post back here for you. You could try the settings that some nice person left for me in this thread, as they seem to be keeping my computer stable longer than it was in Memtest86.

    Hi,

It defenetly has all the call signs of a Defective Dimm socket and/or Defective RAM module.

I had the exact same problem ... and it turned out one of my Dimms died, if all RAM Voltages and setting are set right in Bios and you have tried EVERY slot configuration .. with 2 different sets of Modules, then maybe it could be a PSU issue although i am almost certain it is Memory related.

    Hope you get it sorted.

    Hello again!

I know it's too soon to say, but maybe I found a solution.
    I made following changes:

    - moved memory sticks to slot 1 and 2 (single channel)
    - changed CPU Vcore from Auto (1.25000V) to 1.26750V
    - changed MCH Core from Auto (1.100V) to 1.050V

Ater that i run memtest86 again, and I left it working about an 1.5 hours and everything was ok, then I restarted computer and started Windows. I tried to play and everything worked, it still works now, 6 hours later. I hope it'll stay that way....

P.S. if someone knows hot to make it work with Dual channel memory, it would be very helpfull :)

Did you try just these 2 things:

    - changed CPU Vcore from Auto (1.25000V) to 1.26750V
    - changed MCH Core from Auto (1.100V) to 1.050V

Without running it in single channel? When I dropped MCH Core to 1.05v, mine started working like a charm without moving the sticks.

In the Mit section of the bios:-

    Change from Default:-

    1) Performance Enhance = Standard
    2) Increase DDR2 Voltage by +0.1volts (1.9v) or +0.2volts (2.0v)
    3) Put MCH and CPU back to Auto for now.
    4) Test memory with Memtest 2.11
    GA-P35C-DS3R Rev2.0 F11 bios, E8200 (@3.0Ghz), OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 Reaper 4GB (@1200Mhz), Xonar D1, 8800GTS 512, Corsair HX520 (Single 12volt line, Max 40A), WDC 3200aaks/5000aaks in AHCI mode, Vista 64 Premium.

hmm no, i only tried with dual channel and MCH Core changed.
I'll try to add CPU Vcore change too....

    Channel B

Did you scroll down? Sounds like a buggy BIOS if you are missing all of that. I say you should update your BIOS anyway as you say you do not have driving strengths and it seems your BIOS may be messed up. These driving strengths and channel A/B static settings are now on their own pages as well

DO NOT USE @BIOS!! Here is a Qflash Guide >>>
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/bios...h-guide-27576/

Here is your boards BIOS page latest is F10 >>>
    GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS - GA-EP45-DS3L (rev. 1.0)

I looked and yes driving strength is there as is both channels full settings >>
