Question Optimized BIOS settings for Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R / Intel Dual Core Pentium D 3.0ghz

    Hi all

    I have a:
    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R motherboard
Intel Pentium D 3.0ghz Dual Core CPU (Zalman CNPS9700 LED fan)
    4GIG of DDR2 800mhz RAM
    ASUS EN8600GT 256MB Video Card
    200GIG segate SATA drive
    Antec 500watt power supply
    Antec P180 Case
    Vista Ultimate 32bit

My bios (original bios) is setup to run optimized defaults and I have nothing over clocked in the system. Zalman fan is set to run at its lowest setting and my CPU temps are around 20 - 30C at full load.

Before I bought the Zalman fan my CPU with stock intel fan was getting up to 90C!!! and its performance was sluggish. The new fan and lower temps have made the system a bit quicker but I am wondering if anyone could tell me what would be the best settings to run my motherboard with to extract the best performance from my system (while retaining reliability)

My BIOS Options are listed below:
    MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.)
    Robust Graphics Booster [Auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio [15X]
    CPU Host Clock Control [Disabled]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) [Auto]
    C.I.A.2 [Disabled]
    System memory Multiplier (SPD) [Auto]
High Speed DRAM DLL Settings [Option 1]
    Performance Enhance [Turbo]
    System Voltage Control [Manual]
    DDR2 Overvoltage Control [Normal]
    PCI-E Overvoltage Control [Normal]
    FSB Overvoltage Control [Normal]
    (G)MCH Overvoltage Control[Normal]
    CPU Voltage Control [Normal]

    Any help would be great.

Well for starters I would for sure update the BIOS. DO NOT USE @BIOS, here is a Qflash guide I wrote up >>

Do read the guide please if you update, and be sure you load optimized and set your Ram voltage ONLY then save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS as you will have to set your SATA/disk settings again before you load windows. Dont forget to check Hard Drive Boot Priority and be sure you disk is at the top

I really need a link to your ram, and for you to tell me if you have 4x1 or 2x2GB. And I need to know what Pentium D you have, what #?

Here is some general ranges, will edit for voltages and CPU info once you link your ram and tell me what CPU you have>>>

Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto or Fast]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [15]
    CPU Host Clock Control_ [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [200]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
    C.I.A. 2__________________________ [Disabled]
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [4.00C]
DRAM Timing Selectable_______ SPD __ [Manual]
    Performance Enhance = [Standard]
    CAS Latency Time________________ 4
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 4
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______4
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 12
^^ May be 555-12, not sure since you did not say more about your ram.
Well edit when you do ^^
    ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________3-4
    Rank Write to READ Delay________3-5
    Write to Precharge Delay_________ 4-6
    Refresh to ACT Delay______________52-62
    Read to Precharge Delay__________ 3-5
    Static tRead Value_______________6-10
Static tRead Phase Adjust________ [Auto] << Always Auto
    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.300V] =2.1V Again, well edit once you link your ram
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.1V]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.2V - 0.3V] << Needed for 4GB of ram
CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.xx] << all up to your CPU and overclock of course. If no Overclock Auto is fine
Limit CPUID Max. to 3.....................: [Disabled]
    No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
    CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Disabled]
    C2/C2E State Support....................: [Disabled]
    x C4/C4E State Support..................: [Disabled]
