Default EP45-DS3R -- Recommend me some ram

    Right now I have 4 1gb sticks of Corsair XMS2 2gb (2x1gb) DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800. I am looking at getting 1066 ram, 4gig, but 2x2. Any recommendations?

What CPU do you have, then will tell if you need 1066 ram or not

I have an e6600 oc'ed to 3.0ghz. Will probably buy a q9550 soon, some quad core.
Live in Missouri. Don't want to spend arm and leg, ram prices are cheap these days.

1066 worth the upgrade over 800?

Well just depends. Most (Quality) 800Mhz ram will run 1066 anyway as that is all 1066 ram is. It is 800Mhz ram that has been tested to run at 1066 with looser timings.

Well since you are in the US, If you dont already you should be shopping at newegg.com

I would say get you a set of 2x2GB 1066, and then if you dont use the full 1066 you would just run it at 800-900 with tighter timings. Or get the Best Quality 800 kit and then you could run it either way.

Would I notice any performance by upgrading to 1066 over what I have now? Newegg has some deals of 2x2 2gb kits for 49.99.

Or do you think this is not a valued upgrade for me?

Only in benchmarks would you see better scores really. But a 2x2 Kit would be easier on your system then 4x1 for sure

If you do grab a kit, just be sure it is a good kit, not a cheap one with bad reviews. Always read the reviews, of course some of them are from users who may be useless but there will be knowledgeable reviews as well
