    Default AHCI Vs. IDE/Pata-mode.

    Hello !

I run my Hard drive in AHCI-mode because I think it was good for some reason...

But now I am not sure if it worth it. It takes years to boot in to Vista !

Is it some extra performace in AHCI-mode ?

I have try to look for reasons why people use AHCI and all I find is something about "Hotswap" ?

If I already have install Vista 64 bit with AHCI enable, can I change it in bios to IDE-mode without reinstall Vista?

    Best regard / David

its said that there is little speed increase from using AHCI but
    you gain hotswap

hot swap allows you to plug in hard drives without rebooting the machine
i really like this feature its great for external drives with esata ports

    Thanks for answer.

Ok so because AHCI-Mode I can plug in and out E-Sata. I agree thats a nice function.
    I didn't know that was hotswap :)

To sad it takes long time to boot in AHCI-mode but I think I can live with it.
