    Default Acceptable CPU and GPU temps?

    Got my new PC built - using Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R, Intel Quad Core 2.4ghz cpu and ATI Radeon 4870 512mb video card.

    Just curious what acceptable temps would be for both the CPU and GPU - or possibly links to where I can find reliable info on that.

    So far things seem to be running well and I'm happy with the new machine.

    Thanks.

    CPU = ~50c< assuming stock speeds
    GPU = ~85C<

    remember hd4870 runs very hot, but theres nothing to worry about, gpu's r designed to run at high temps

    Thank you! I'm at 58c on GPU (35% fan speed) and 28c on CPU (low rpm/noise Zerotherm 92mm fan/heatsink) while gaming so I guess I'm ok. :)

    That is very impressive for while gaming. My temps under load are about 75C on GPU and 50C on CPU. Much higher than yours but still acceptable. I have all my case fans set to lowest RPM. I don't mind my PC running a little warm as long as its silent.

    I agree - I used a Lian Li PC-A05B case this time (love it btw) and replaced both stock 120mm case fans with Sythe S-Flex 8.7db ones - as well as that ZeroTherm 92mm heatsink/fan that's incredibly quiet. So long as my 4870 stays below 50% fanspeed you're hard pressed to even notice the PC is on.

    Ya, all looks to be very good temps to me! You are fine, and have plenty of headroom
